28l~9 <br />Ramsey County Ecklund met with Captain Spencer on the 29th of January to discuss <br />Sheriff t s Bill : Sridr$' bi11 in the amount of $1.3,098.65 for the quarter ending <br />December 31, 1968. Captain Spencer replied by letter dated <br />January 31, 1969 that the bill was higher because of 1r7orkmen~s <br />Compensation in the amount of X709.65 and the firstra].f of a 12J <br />increase in salary which became effective August 1, 1968. The <br />check for payment was signed upon receipt of this information. <br />A copy of Captain Spenceros letter will be forwarded to the <br />Village Attorneys s office forfiling with the contract. <br />F.D.~t.A. Bi.t1: Chief Helbig, Volunteers Dowdell, Bianchi, and Schirrmeister <br />were present. Discussion .was held. in regard to the Fire Department <br />Relief Association Bi11 and changes were made to finalize .the <br />rough draft. Ecklund moved adoption of resolution approving <br />substantially the same form of bill as presented at the meeting. <br />Taylor seconded and authorized the Mayer or his designated <br />representative to deliver the biL1. to the Legislature. Motion carried. <br />Fire Hydrant at Volunteer Dowdell. asked what could be done about a sunken <br />Larpenteur rTanor: hydrant at .1710 W. La~penteur Avenue. Engineer Lemberg advised <br />that the fire hydrant is not village-owned and therefore we <br />can do nothing about having the matter corrected. Heed, however, <br />state that Bonestroo, Rosene, AnderLik & Associate, Inc. was <br />stilt holding the bona for their landscaping because the grading <br />has not been done properly. T;~b'hen they correct that problem <br />by cutting the grade down, the hydrant will be alright. Black <br />advised that such a hydrant could have an adverse effect on the <br />apartrients ~ fire insurance and if the problem is not corrected <br />this spring, this should be brought to the owners attention. <br />Due to 1~?amsey Cty Black moved, seconded by Stone that the i~ri.11 from tihe Ramsey County <br />League of A~unicipal: League of Municipalities for X22$.26 for the 1969 Dues be paid. <br />Motion was carried unanimously. <br />Employment of The attorney said that according to the Attorney Generals <br />Bert Slama: opinion, Bert would be in danger of losing his pension benefits <br />if n,e works on the Fire Department payroll. Stone stated that some <br />plan should be dram up soon for him. to work in the Village. <br />Fire Reports: Ecklund read Fire F~eports 766, 767, 768, and 769. The Council <br />was well satisfied with the results of the response. by the men <br />and the overall operation of the department as a volunteer unit. <br />Reports 767-769 result from negligence on the part of the <br />contractor who was wrecking the house and garage at 1800 T;d. <br />Larpenteur without a burning permit. Chief Helbig agreed to <br />sign a complaint with the Justice of the Peace against the <br />contractor under Ordinance .5~. as amended by Ordinance 81~. <br />Storm Sewer Lemberg presented the Council ~r1.th the Feasibility Study <br />Improvement 6y-l: dated February7.,3, 1969 on Storm Sewer Improvement 1969-1. <br />Falcon Heights' share of the project is $11.x,000. An.~additional <br />w15,500 was proposed for catch basins and lines on Prior and. <br />Autumn, making the total cost of the project approximately X29,500. <br />Subtracting the street area from privately owned property involved <br />would result in an assessment of X4,318.56 to the Village ana an <br />average of :517.00 per lot to the property owners. <br />
