2852 <br />Salaries for Ecklund moved, Taylor seconded that the salaries of the Village <br />Council: officials be increased. as of January 1, 1970 to 411,0.00 for the <br />Mayor and ;1125.00 for each of the four councilmen. Ayes: Taylor, <br />I~cklund. Nays: Y~Tarken-tien, Stone, Black. <br />Discussion fo1]_owed as to the amount of -the increase. Those <br />voting against felt that doublir~; the salaries zTas too much of <br />an increase. Z~,hereupon Ecklund moved, seconded by Taylor that <br />an ordinance be adopted, effective January 1, 1970,. to increase <br />the salaries of the Tiayor 'to N125.00 and the Councilmen to X100.00. <br />!dyes: Black, Ecklund, Taylor and T7arkentien. Nays: Stone <br />I~1o-tion wa.s carried. The Attorney was directed to prepare an <br />ordinance for publication in accordance ~~rith the resolution passed. <br />It wa.s noted. that the last such. increase Vras in 1958. <br />1{~iployment of !!ttorney advised that Bert Slama could be hired only under the <br />Bex•trand S1ama: following conditions: <br />1. That he not be responsible to the Fire Chief but to the Council <br />2. That the job is not solely for fire inspections. <br />3. That he does not become an active member of the F.D.I~..A. <br />I~cka.und proposed that he work on an hourly basis with a ma.xirnum <br />number of hours for him to work each month. The Council discussed <br />the possibility of him doing burning inspections, recreational duties <br />such. as supervising the boys at the warming houses, and making a <br />survey of burning -trash and blight ordinances.
