1968 <br />City of St. Paul & Plan Nils en moved, seconded by Mortenson that George Shavor <br />for Sewerage Collection represent Falcon Heights, and the firm of Bonestroo, <br />Treatments Rosene and Associates be our consultants to w ork with <br />the chief engineer of St. Paul in developing a preliminary <br />plan for sewerage collection and treatment for the Metro- <br />politan area. Carried. This was in regard to a letter <br />written by Mayor Vavoulis of Saint Paul under date of <br />July 17, 1963. <br />Tree Care <br />Short Course on Stone moved, seconded by Nilsen that Kenneth Quarn, <br />Dutch Elm Disease: maintenance man, attend a 2-day course at the University <br />and that payment of ~1~.00 registration be approved and a <br />written report be submitted at the end of the course. <br />Same is scheduled for September 16 and 17. Motion carried <br />Purchase of S~rede Nilsen moved, seconded by Stone that authorization to <br />haw: purchase Swede saw for sawing trees in the Village be <br />approved Carried. Engineer Lemberg was requested. to <br />talk to Gus Hard about the tree situation and. it was <br />recommended that Quarn should introduce himself and <br />get into a working relationship with Hard, who is Village <br />Tree consultant. <br />Removal and Shavor moved, seconded by Stone that the Village Engineer <br />Trimming: be authorized to arrange for. removal and trimming of trees <br />Motion carried. It should also be noted that the property <br />owners should be notified by the engineer or maintenance <br />man before trimming of trees or removal of trees is done. <br />North Snelling Avenue Letter from Richard Turnland, Village Administrator of <br />Plater Main connection to Roseville, advised that every effort will be made to <br />Roseville: expedite this matter. <br />Complaint about Sweeping Letter from Jerry Roch, 1791 Tatum was read. It was his <br />of Streets: opinion that a poor job of sweeping was done. Mayor <br />Nilsen will contact Mr. Roch. <br />Northwestern Bell request Letter dated July 2~ requesting permission to place a <br />to place booth in the telephone booth adjacent to the Northome Shopping Center <br />Northome Shopping Area: on Larpenteur Avenue east of Snelling Avenue was read, <br />Shavor moved, seconded by Mortenson that request be <br />approved; however, the Council would prefer having <br />booth placed on the east end of the crosswalk so that <br />present parking plan is not interfered. Motion carried. <br />Opening of Bids: Council was reminded that opening of bids for the 1963 <br />Watermain Extension and Sewer Extension is scheduled for <br />next Monday, August 19,. <br />Justice of the Peace: Edwin Johnson advised he had sold his house and will be <br />moving out of the Village, and must tender resignation <br />of his Justice of the Peace position. Attorney Dwain <br />L. Jones was recommended to fill the vacancy. <br />Complaints about Dumping Dumping in Roseville Dump on Hamline creates a lot of <br />On Hamline Avenue: dust, and trucks make considerable noise. Mortenson <br />advised. that some watering down of dust has been done. <br />
