2055 <br />REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 22, 196l~ <br />The regular meeting was called to order at 7s00 P.M, with the following members <br />presents Mayor Nilsen, Clerk W. A. Mortensen, Trustees Willis Warkentien, <br />Charles Stone, and William Black. Also present were Treasurer 01sen, Engineer <br />Lemberg, Attorney Galvin, and. Deputy Clerk Tina Vavoulis. <br />Mrs. Rose of Unit 2 of the League of Women Voters was present. <br />Minutes of the meeting of January 8, 196l~ were reviewed. Stone moved, Black <br />seconded that with corrections made, the minutes be approved. Carried. <br />Legal Newspapers A letter dated January 22, 196l~ from Kenneth Wisneski, <br /> Managing Editor of the Ramsey County Suburban Life <br /> Newspaper, was read regarding its capacity to adequately <br /> handle publishing legal material for this Village. <br /> Attorney Galvin advised that the power to appoint a <br /> legal newspaper carries with it the power to discharge <br /> such 1e gal newspaper at ariy time during the year. <br />Appointment for the Nilsen moved that the Ramsey County Suburban Life be <br />Year 196l~: designated as the official newspaper of the Village of <br /> Falcon Heights for the year 196t~. Motion was seconded <br /> by Black and duly carried. <br />Trees s Stone made motion that the following resolution be <br /> adopted by the Village Council; <br />IT NOW APPEARING THAT the Village Tree Consultant <br />has negotiated with the Lakeland Tree Service for <br />trimming of forty-one (!a].) trees and removal of four <br />(It) trees on Crawford, Garden, Ruggles, Simpson, and <br />Arena and Roselawn Avenues at the unit price of X10.00 <br />for each such trimming and removal, and <br />IT NOW APPEARING FURTHER THAT the consultant has <br />negotiated with the Lakeland Tree Service for the removal <br />of five stumps of trees at 1809 Asbury, 1831 Asbury, 1783 <br />Holton, 1433 California, and 11,.53 Idaho for a unit price <br />of 50¢ per inch in diameter, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council <br />of the Village of Falcon Heights that the Lakeland Tree <br />Service be employed to perform the above enumerated <br />services. <br />Mortensen seconded, and upon a vote being taken the <br />resolution was duly passed. <br />Voter Registrations Clarence Kammerer of the County Auditor's office requested. <br />by phone that the matter of voter registration be brought <br />before the Council inasmuch as Falcon Heights is one of <br />only three villages in the County ziot requiring advance <br />registration. After discussion, the Council agreed that <br />inasmuch as it would be extremely difficult to get <br />registrations from the residents who are University <br />students, and inasmuch as there has been no past experience <br />to warrant advance registration, that same would ncbt be <br />necessary. <br />
