233 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 26, 1966 <br />The regular meeting of the council was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the <br />follov~ing members present: Mayor Nilsen, Clerk Strandquist, Councilmen <br />Warkentien, Stone and Black. Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Engineer <br />Lemberg and Attorney Galvin. <br />Black moved, Stone seconded that the minutes of the meeting of January 12, <br />1966 be approved. Motion carried. <br />Correspondence: <br />State of Minnesota <br />Section of Water <br />Pollution Contx°ol <br />request for mapss <br />Letter dated Jan uary 20, 1966 from Lyle H. Smith, Chief <br />of Section of Water Pollution Control, State of Minnesota, <br />Department of Health, University Campus, Minneapolis <br />requested copy of comprehensive map of sanitary sewers <br />in this municipality if one is available at this time. <br />N. S. P. - reduction Northern States Power Company letter of January 18 <br />in rates extended: stated that gas customers will receive present temporary <br />reduction in rates for an extended time. <br />Ramsey County Usage The Ramsey County Usage Classification Report as of <br />Class ific~ton: January 3, 1966 has been received from the Ramsey County <br />Machine Accounting Department. <br />International Letter from International Council of Building Officials, <br />Council of with list of data available regarding building codes, <br />Building Officials: etc. was referred to Black. <br />Civil Defense: Letter from Lorin S. Allen, Director of Ramsey County <br />Civil Defense, dated January 21, 1966 was requisition <br />for additional general fallout shelter supplies for the <br />fallout shelter facility at Bailey Hall, University of <br />Minnesota, Building 383, Falcon Heights, Minnesota. <br />Letter dated December 22, 1965 from Carl B, Edquist, Radef <br />Instrument Repair, Calibration and Maintenance Office, <br />Twin City Ordinance Plant, New Brighton advised of <br />irregularities found in shelters. <br />Representative Letter from Representative Karth dated January 20, 1966 <br />Karth - Voting stated that use of voting machines results in fewer voters <br />Machiness filling out a complete ballot than when paper ballots are <br />used. The complexity of the currently-used voting <br />machines is basic problem, he stated. <br />Report of Police Police Commissioner Donald Arndt was present and he made <br />Commissioner: a brief report on conditions in the police department. <br />Police Officer After discussion, Warkentien moved, seconded by Nilsen <br />Raise in Salary: that Police Officer Nordeen be given an increase in salary <br />as of February 1st, 1966 in order that his total earnings <br />per month are equal to those of the other two police <br />officers. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion was carried. <br />Falcon Lanes - Mr. Kline of Universal Sigh Company presented sketch of <br />Request for Outdoor proposed sign. Black moved approval of sign not to exceed <br />Sign: 30 inches by 7 feet to be placed directly above the <br />
