Curtis Larson, 1885 Tatum, presented the Council with <br />Areas. the following petition signed by residents: <br />'r:'~;e, the undersi~;ned, are residents and home owners of Falcon _ <br />Heights, living in the area bounded by Fairview, Clevel and, <br />Larpenteur and Roselawn Avenues. ~°~rithin this area there are <br />about 100 homes and approximately 1l~0 children, A you know, <br />there is not a single playground facility within this parti- <br />cular area and the school playgrounds are t.oo far away to be <br />of use. As the number of children increases, we are finding <br />that the lack of a playground area is becoming more and <br />:Wore acute. lTe therefore request that the tirillage of Falcon <br />Heights acquire and establish ~orie_or more playgrounds within <br />the above area. Any such area should be at least 200' x <br />300' in size to accommodate a ball field and otner re- <br />creational facilities. use urge that this request be given <br />careful consideration before further sub-divisions are <br />approved in our area". <br /> After a general discussion, '?ayor f•ailsen said the Council <br /> had given the matter some consideration; vrould '~e glad to <br /> go into it further; and would annrecia.te any help the <br /> residents could give them regarding acquisition of suitable <br /> property, financing of same, planning and supervision. <br />Development Mr Gage advised he had submitted his plans for another <br />South of "Figure 8" development to ~:ar. Steffen, and ~'r. Uteffes advised <br />Falcon him that it ryas his opinion that he would get bet+er drainage, <br />1~TOOds etc. if the proposed development were laid out as a straight <br /> street. It was pointed out that there was no access from <br /> this proposed street to Tatum. It tivas moved by ldilsen, <br /> and seconded by Utecht, +hat A~d.ition ~2 of the Gage Plan <br /> be referred to the planning Committee for their considera+a_on <br /> on sanitary sewer, drainap~e and recreation facil-hies. <br /> .aotion unanimously carried. <br />Smoke It was moved by :`arkentien and seconded by Coppini that, we <br />Eater renew the subscriptions to the Smoke Eater for the 2~t men <br /> whose names appear on the order ~:~lank submit±,ed by Chief <br /> Grumke. :Notion unanimously carried. <br />Smoke Ex- LettFr from Chief Grumke, regarding need for smoke extrac+,or, <br />tractor was read. It tivas moved by Shavor and seconded by Nilsen that <br /> the matter be referred to `~arkentien for checking -- especially <br /> with reference to the power supply. <br />Trees Ger- Letter of l~'_arch 31st from Gerhard. F. achmitt, 1725 Asbury, <br />Hard Schmitt regarding trimming of trees was read. and filed. <br />Lauderdale Attorney Graham reported he had checked the Lauderdale Fire <br />Fire Contract and feels it requires us to answer fi.r.; calls only. <br />Contract In their let+er of November lath, 1956, the Lauderdale <br /> Council instructed us not to answer anything but fire calls. <br /> Graham suggasted vre vrrito a letter to the Fi~~e pepartment <br /> and tell them that vre ar•e to answer fire calls only. It was <br /> also sur~gested ~.~;e write the Lauderdale Council stating we feel <br /> the Department must be allowed to use some judgment on emer- <br /> gency calls. <br />
