1~.~~.~ <br />Greater Letter of December lst from Dave Cartwright was read. It stated <br />St. Paul he had. been asked to work with Rill Chenoweath to try and organize <br />Safety a suburban section of the Greater St. Paul Safety Council. It <br />Council was his su~*gestion that the Committee be composed of representa- <br />tives from service organizations such as the Kiwanis, Junior <br />Chamber of Commerce, Lions, PTA, etc. rather than municipal officials who <br />are already overburdened with committee meetings and other time con- <br />suming village services. After discussion, it was moved by Utecht, <br />seconded by Coppini and unanimously voted to authorize Cartwright <br />to organize such a committee. <br />Parks and Letter from A. C. Kaechele, for Joe Garske, Chairman of the <br />Playgrounds ~ Snelling-Iowa-Idaho Playground area, was read. It advised: They <br />are meeting weekly. The skating rink and warming house are about <br />finished, About 200 hours of citizens' time was expended. Out- <br />right donations close to ~200.G0 have been received over and above <br />the village's expenditures. They ask: Is there adequate insurance <br />coverage for possible injury? They were advised Attorney Graham <br />will investigate and get in touch with them. ~~`ho will pay for <br />the oil required to heat the warming house? The Village will pay <br />for the oil. V~hen lights are put up for the rinks, will we also <br />include the v~rarming house? Vile will include the vrarming house and <br />Psul Coppini will make the arrangements. ~Jho will control lights <br />and will any paid supervision be available? the last two questions <br />will have to be discussed but we are sure satisfactory arrangements <br />can be made. <br />Letter from Curtis Larson, Chairman of the bYest ^alcon Heights <br />Playground Committee, was read. It advised they were enclosing <br />a generalized map. Bernard Edmonds, Playground Consultant, had <br />inspected the site and indicated that the layout is feasible in <br />every way. The letter thanked the Council for its support and <br />the funds to get the project started. They feel confident they <br />can obtain the labor and funds necessary to complete the playground <br />and that the people of the area can supply a major part of both. <br />Removal of The matter of removing the stop ,signs on Garden at Arona was <br />Stop Signs referred to Millis Y~tarkentien for his recommendation. <br />Christmas George Shavor will take care of this matter and see that necessary <br />Lights materials are supplied -- cost not to exceed ~2K.00. <br />Building Nick Christensen, Building Inspector, suggested that on future <br />Permit Com-nercial Work the fee be split 50~ to him, l~0~ to the Playground <br />Fees Fund and 10~ to the Village. The Council accepted Mr. Christensen's <br />offer and assured him of their appreciation of his generosity. <br />Liquor There was a discussion regarding steps to be taken and necessary <br />Store preparations to be made in connection with obtaining legislation <br />permitting Falcon Heights to operate, or lease, on a license and <br />percentage basis, a liquor store.
