1209 <br />SPECIAL ?:AEETING MAY 7th, 1959. <br />The Special Meeting was called to order at 7:00 P, M., the following Council Members <br />being present: Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Willis titi~arkentien, <br />Trustee and Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk. Also present were Frank N. Graham, Attorney; Wm. <br />E. Olsen, Treasurer; Nick Christensen, Building Inspector and Ethel E. White, Deputy <br />Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. Absent: Paul L. Coppini, Trustee. <br />Lindig- Mayor Nilsen called the attorneys for Lindig, Spiegler and the group <br />Spiegler. petitioning for rezoning to the front and explained that due to the <br />illness of Howard Dahlgren, representative of Carl Gardner & Assoc- <br />iates, the firm that had been engaged to make a study of the matter <br />at hand, reports from the planners were not available until tonight. <br />The Planning Commission and the Council needed time to study the <br />reports and Nilsen suggested that the Hearing be continued next <br />Thursday, May 14th, at 7:00 P. R4. The Attorneys agreed. Nilsen then <br />advised the Public of the circumstances. They also indicated agreement. <br />Nilsen then moved that the Hearing be continued until Thursday, tMay 14, <br />at 7:00 P. M. Seconded by Utecht and carried. <br />Minutes The Minutes of the Special Meeting of April 14th were approved as sub- <br />mitted. <br />The Minutes of the Regular ?Meeting of April 23rd were approved as sub- <br />mitted. <br />1 <br />1 <br />Larpenteur Attorney Graham's letter to Harry S, Bronson, County Engineer, regard- <br />A~venue ing the necessity fora driveway and opening in the median strip west <br />Pro3ect of the Village Hall was read. Also Boonson's reply advising that a <br />driveway will be constructed at this location and a modified opening <br />will be made in the median strip to provide for emergency vehicles. <br />Further action will be held over until next week when Engineer L~ungren <br />will be present. <br />League of Letter of May ltth from the League of Women Voters advising that ~-rs. <br />Women Charles Cooper, 141b W. California is their new president and t~~rs. <br />Voters John F.ing, 13bl~ W, Iowa is their new chairman in charge of recreation <br />study was read and filed. <br />Sinking Letter from B. B. Knopp, Manager of ~tunicipal Bond Department, First <br />Fund National ~3ank of St. Paul, to Attorney Graham was read. It advised <br />Investment they have purchased for the Village of Falcon Heights X31,000. U. S. <br />Treasury Bills due January 15th, 19b0, for which they acknowledged <br />payment and enclosed a receipted statement. Treasurer Olsen advised <br />he had received the receipt from the First National Bank covering these <br />bonds. <br />Squad Car Copy of Attorney Graham's letter of April 24th to the Rose Tribune was <br />Bids read. It advised he was enclosing copy of Advertisement for Bids for <br />Police Car and requested that it be published in the Rose Tribune <br />April 30th and achy 7th. <br />Squad Car Copy of Attorney Graham's letter to dir. Raymond J. Nelson, 21b1 <br />Accident Eleanor, St. Paul, 16, Minnesota was read. It stated the Village of <br />Falcon Heights was making demand upon ~Mr. Nelson in the-sum of X177.90 <br />covering the following items: Installation of radio in substitute <br />squad car X3.00; Repair of Officer Dachtera's uniform trousers, owned <br />by the Village, X8.50; Use of Officer Jerome Johnson's car as squad <br />car while squad car was being repaired 9~116.t~0 and X50.00 paid under <br />the X50.00 deductible insurance policy. Graham also advised he was <br />sending a copy of his letter directly to the Ohio Cas. Ins. Co. <br />
