1359 <br />REGULAR I,';EETING 1/2860 <br />?,Zeeting eras called to order at 7t00 P. I;'L, the following Council T~.embers being <br />present: Harold C. Nilsen, ?:7ayor; George J. Shavor9 Trustee; and Pdillis l".~arkentien, <br />Trustee. Also present were Frank N. Graham, Village Attorney, Wm. E. Olseny Treasurer <br />and Ethel E. ~"Thite, Det~uty Clerk and ~?eputy Treasurer. Absent: P. Connini & W. U±echt. <br />The `:4inutes of the Regular P,7eeting of January lath were approved as corrected. <br />The 12th paragraph of Wage 1353 was changed to read '"Utecht moved the appointment <br />of Trustees George Shavor and 1P~illis ~rilarkentien as representatives to the Ramsey <br />County I;?unicipal Officials Association.'" <br />The i~4inutes of the Special ';Ieeting of•January ?_ls't were approved as submitted. <br />Bids for Fubli- Letter of December 28th from Rose Tribune was read. It quoted <br />cation Proceed- ~°1.15 per folio inch for straight matter and x;1.35 per folio <br />ings R~ legal inch tabular matter. ThEre will be no extra charge for additional <br />notices slips required in the publishing of bids and other matter requiring <br />slips. <br />Fire Department '3lanks for the Financial Report of the Fire Department Relief <br />Relief Assn. Association vrere received and the deputy clerk instructed to <br /> write the Fire Department Relief Association suggesting that <br /> the books should be checked and submitted td the treasurer for <br /> .audit prior to the meeting scheduled for February 2nd. <br />Fire Extinguishers Letter of January 26th from David P. Cartwright was read. It <br /> advised the Fire Chief for the City of St. Paul briefly dis- <br />cussed. a proposed ordinance which will ban the use of all liquid <br /> fire extinguishers in the City of St. Paul. They are concerned <br /> about the toxic effects of the fumes of carbon tetri chloride <br /> which is found in most of the liquid fire extinguishers, <br />Lauderdale Fire ?,~ayor Nilsen read copy of his letter of January ?_6th to ?,Zayor <br />Contract Bronkala of Lauderdale. It pointed out that while the people <br /> of Lauderdale enjoyed-the same fire protection as those in <br /> Falcon Heights, Lauderdale pays only 9.29 of the cost of obey-~ <br /> ation of the fire department against Falcon Heights' 90.71%. <br /> Letter proposed that-there be an equalization of costs based <br /> upon a formula fully equalized on the basis of assessed valuation. <br />Accounting Treasurer Olsen outlined. suggestions by George Anderson regarding <br /> our Accounting System. <br />Fairview Tor. and r:?rs. Emil Anderson were present. .Letter of January 28th <br />PJatermain from P.~ilner ti",r. Carley R~c Associates was read. It adviseds "'U,'e <br /> have revievred the petition for vratermain extension from Larpenteur <br /> Avenue to a point l~36' North of the North Right-of way line of <br /> Larpenteur Avenue. We have also visited the site and have found <br /> the follov~ring: <br />- 1. That the proposed improvement is-feasible. <br />2. .We estimate the cost of this improvement to be <br />approximately X3,688.00. <br />3- The improvement could be carried out-as proposed." <br />Ljungren estimated the cost per lot at approximately X790.00. <br />
