1371 <br />REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 25, 1960. <br />Meeting was called to order at 7s00 P. M., the following Council Members being <br />presents Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor;.George J. Shavor, Trustee; Paul Coppini, <br />Trustee. Also present were Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer, Vern L, Ljungren, Engineer; <br />Frank N. Graham, Village Attorney; and Ethel E. White, Dep. Clerk and Dep. <br />Treas. Absent: Wm. R. Utecht, Clerk and Willis Warkentien, Trustee. <br />The Minutes of the regular meeting of February 11th, 1960 were approved as <br />submitted. <br />Planning Mayor Nilsen read the letter from the Planning Commission wherein <br /> they recommended that the Council buy 30 additional copies of <br /> Planning RepArt, Part 1 survey, and that a copy be sent to the <br /> Rose Tribune, the St. Paul paper, the Minneapolis Paper, the <br /> Business Men's Commercial Club, the University of Minnesota, <br /> Att. Dean Macy, and advise the Public that copies are available <br /> at the office at X2.25 each. Shavor suggested that a copy be <br /> sez:t to the League of Women Voters. After discussion, it xaa <br /> moved by Nilsen, seconded by Shavor and unanimously voted to <br /> order 15 copies at this time with the possibility that we may <br /> order another 15 when Part 2 of the survey is completed. <br />Northern Letter of February 19th from John F, Merriam, President, Northern <br />Natural Gas Co. Natuural Gas Comparsy, Omaha, Nebraska was read, It outlined their <br /> thoughts op taxes applying to regulated industries. M. 2 Children walked east from Pascal <br /> to Holton. <br />Larpenteur Attorney Graham delivered tiro copies of the oronosed~assessment <br />Avenue water- for the Larpenteur Avenue Watermain and Pumping Station, Aud. No. <br />main 151 - M. A, No. 38, dated February 23rd, 1960. Ljungren delivered <br /> map showing total assessable footage platted 133.58' on the <br /> south side of Larpenteur, 282lt.82~ on the north side, total <br /> assessable ltlb8.h0~ at X7.25 per foot, or a total of X30,220.90. <br />Policing Attorney Graham reported he had contacted the Fair Grounds re- <br />Fairgrounds carding policing and had been advised that they propose to enforce <br /> their regulations by deputizing their watchman who has been provided <br /> with a car with a flasher signal and has been instructed to batrol <br /> the streets in the fairgrounds and arrest violators. The watchman <br /> does this in connection with his constant patrol of the buildings <br /> in the fairgrounds. <br />Fire Pre- Nilsen discussed briefly the tyro books on Fire Prevention which <br />vention Fire Chief Gordon Nelson had borrowed from Columbia Heights and `~ <br /> turned them over to Trustee Shavor for study. The Deputy Clerk <br /> was instructed to writ~3 Freitag of the National Board of Fire <br /> Underwriter's requesting a copy of recommended Fire Prevention <br />
