137l~
Avenue, 158.62'. Your lot is 215.12' deep. We figure 126.75'
as normal depth, leaving at least another 88.37' lot on Fairview.
You would not be assessed for the 126.75' but you would be
assessed for 88.37' on Fairview.
Sipes: Haw many pieces of property will this watermain serve?
L3ungren: 3 lots besides yours.
Sipes: Don't the other people want the water extended all the way?
L3ungren: This petition covers only the first 1162' north of Larpenteur.
Sipes: How many signers did they have?
L~ungren: 35~ of the frontage
Sipes: I had a call from the owner right north of me. It is going to
be quite an assessment against that corner lot. '?hero families
would give you 35~. Is the planning finished?
Nilsent We have Part 1 of the report navr. It deals principally with
the present land use and the economic survey. The Planning
Consultants will meet with the Planning Board to report their
recommendations in about a month.
Dowdells I would be the last lot. Do I have to pay for the whole width
of the lot?
L~ungren: You would be assessed for your whole frontage now, but nothing
more when the watermain is laid the rest of the way up the
street.
Nilsens We all know and realize the ideal situation would have been to
extend the water as the village was developed, but the City of
St. Paul wouldn't agree to further extension until recently.
Nair we have the problem of double expense. It seems foolish
and costly to permit people to drill wells and then come along
with the watermain in another year or so. The watermain is on
Larnenteur Avenue paw and available to the side streets. Our
thought has been that the extension of water along Fairview and
Tatum would have to wait until a representative percentage of
the people wanted water. An informal petition was taken on
Fairview, north of Dowdell's, but most of the people felt their
wells were satisfactory and they were hesitant about taking
on the additional expense of hooking up to the City Water so
soon after laying sewers, and that's the situation we have to
face. On Tatum, a small percentage would like to see the water
go up the street, but it is a real problem.
Bianchis Is it more expensive to out water down a street where there are
houses only on one side?
Nilsens Yes, it is. It was true of the sanitary sewer system and it is
true of the water
oin
down La
t
I
g
g
rpen
eur.
f we could put a
main down the middle of the street and service both sides, it
would be less costly.
Question: What if the University should develop on the East side of Fairview?
