1376
L~ungren: About 75¢ a foot.
Dowdells Does this have to be voted on tonight?
Graham: Normal procedure would be to settle it tonight. Tt is not
necessary to vote on it tonight. The Council could take
the matter under advisement and continue the hearing.
Nilsens We have a tough problem. We recognize it as keen3.y as anybody.
Martin: You can't stop progress, but it is a bad time.
Dowdells It will always be a bad time. The pumps will go one by one,
Martins We have Sommers who built a new house and paid for a pump.
Sipess Were all the people on the street contacted?
Andersons I contacted several people and got a number of vigorous "Nos"
so I discussed it with Mr. Graham and asked how it could be
done. There were quite a few who wanted water but they had
reasonably good wells. We would, naturally, like to have
water now. We are hoping to build this Spring but we feel
it has reached a point where we will not be able to get loans
without water.
Betty Wouldn't it be more fair to have the petition go all the way
Sommers: down the street?
Nilsens I think when it does go all the way up Fairview, we will have
to consider going down Roselawn to Tatum and down Tatum to
Larpenteur for the loop. The added fire protection is worth
considering. If more property is developed, it will have to
be developed from Larpenteur Avenue and the water, sewer and
gas brought up from Lartienteur Avenue.
Sipess Have the planners recommended that the Larpenteur Avenue
property be rezoned commercial? What percentage of signers
do you have to have to rezone property?
Graham? 50~ of the people within a radius of 500'.
There was further discussion during which Nilsen read the
letters received from the Federal Housing Administration in
which they stated they would request proof of pure water
subply or refuse loans. Nilsen also read the data received
from the Planners on tax returns received from business
property, multiple dwellings and private residences, at the
end of which the following statements were mades
Mrs. Sommerss I am not against it.
Dowdells I am for it.
Andersons We need it.
Sipess I am not against progress. There are
four people concerned - Andersons, Sommers, Dowdell and myself.
