i <br />X93 <br />REGULAR P.~ETING rdAY 25th, 1961. <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:00 P. M., the follotiving Council Members being <br />presents Harold C. Nilsen, "Mayor; A. W. Mortenson, Clerk; George J. Shavor, <br />Trustee; Paul L. Co~pini, Trustee. Also present were Attorney Frank N. Graham, <br />Brad Lemberg, Engineer and Ethel E. phite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. <br />Absent: Wm. E. Olsen, Treasurer and Willis ~"larkentien, Trustee. <br />The P~Minutes of the meeting of l~May 9th were approved as submitted. <br />Civil Defense: Letter from Lorin S. Aalen, Director, Ramsey County Civil <br />Defense Director, was read. It advised, in part, that he <br />had had recommended. to him three individuals as Civil Defense <br />Directors for the Vi7_lage of Falcon Heights; that he did not <br />know them personally, but that he understood they had expressed <br />an interest in Civil Defense. They area Robt Luey, 1745 No. <br />Pascal, Ken Frenzel, 1506 Crawford, Ken Sackett, 1495 W. <br />Larpenteur. The letter was referred to Trustee 6~arkentien. <br />League of Program for The League of P~ginn~~sota Iuiunicipalities was read and <br />Minnesota briefly discussed. It was decided to consider it further at <br />municipalities: the next Council Meeting, June 8th. <br />United Fund Mortenson advised he had attended the meeting May 21~th, and <br />Appeal: reported on same. <br />Engineering: Engineer Lemberg reported as follows: <br />They finished the examination of the watermain work on Fry <br />Street. They had found four stubs broken; they were capped <br />and the excavation refilled. The damage was so obvious it could <br />not have gone unno+„iced by Herbst. Large pieces of broken clay <br />the were found, and the water line had gone right through the <br />sewer stubs at the joints. Pictures were taken and will be <br />forwarded to Attorney Graham. <br />A meeting has been set with N. L. Hermes and Hennepin Black- <br />tox~ping for 10 A. .ui. Friday, tday 26th. <br />The County is going to run a drainage survey on Garden and <br />see what is needed in the ~~aay of culverts and catch basins. <br />Mayor Nilsen pointed out that the intersection at Ruggles and <br />Hamline should be lowered for proper drainage. Lemberg agreed. <br />Lemberg had a call from Thorstensen of the State Highway Department <br />regarding the work at the Iowa Playground. He will check contract <br />and call Thorstenson tomorrow, the 26th. <br />They have been checking the sewer on Iowa and have placed a basket <br />in it at Arouna and Iowa to catch anything that, comes through. <br />He had. a call from Mr. Beck, Assistant Engineer in charge of <br />State Aid Jobs and our plans are being signed today. We should <br />set up a "Letting'" date for the three jobs as soon as possible - <br />try to have them set up before the end of June so we can start <br />work in July. <br />
