1629 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 2l~th, 1961. <br />Meeting was called to order at 7:00 P. M., the following Council Members being <br />presents H~~. Nilsen, Mayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Willis Warkentien, <br />Trustee; Pa ~/ rustee; W. A. Mortenson, Clerk. Also present were Wm. E. <br />Olsen, Treasurer; Mr. Galvin, Village Attorney; Brad Lemberg, Village Engineer; <br />and Ethel E. White, Deputy Glerk and Deputy Treasurer. <br />Planning: There was a discussion regarding the invoice received from <br />Midwest Planning. The Deputy Clerk was instructed to call <br />Howard Dahlgren for a clarification. <br />Licenses A11 requirements having been met, it was moved by Shavor, <br />seconded by Coppini and unanimously voted to issue the <br />following licenses: <br />Sewer Inst. #~.9 Harold A. Waller, H. W. Sanitation, 851 W. County Road <br />B., Roseville, Minnesota. <br />Master Gas #158 Richard W. Johnson, Midwest Equipment Co., 330 University <br />Installer Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. <br />Bingo U of M Letter from Paul W. Larson, Student Union, University of <br />Student Union: Minnesota, requesting permission to conduct a Bingo Game in <br />the Student Center on the St. Paul Campus, October 7th, 1961 <br />between the hours of 8 P. M. and 12:30 A. M. was read. Letter <br />stated the purpose of the game is not to raise funds other <br />than to assist in the underwriting of expenses for that <br />evening, but is primarily one form of the evening's amusements. <br />After disco ssion, it was moved by Mortenson, seconded by <br />Nilsen and voted to grant permission to conduct this Bingo <br />Game. <br />Fusl Oil Sinclair Refining Company's quotation of 12.3 per gallon on <br />SuperFlame P.?Iedium Fuel Oil to be delivered to locations in <br />the Village during the period August 19th, 1961 through August <br />9th, 1962 was read, and the Deputy Clerk was instructed to <br />write Thorne Coal and Oil Company, giving them a chance to <br />meet the price in view of the long, satisfactory service <br />rendered by them. <br />Special Use Pdr. & Mrs. Carroll, who purchased the home at 1865 W. Larpenteur, <br />Permission were present to request permission to use same as a Furniture <br />Display Location, advising that there would be nothing commercial <br />looking about the place, except for a small sign stating "Carroll <br />Home". They were advised to make application in writing, stating <br />their exact plans, which would be submitted to the Planning <br />Commission for recommendation. <br />Fire Dept. Letter of Augus+: 22nd, requesting the Council to write letters <br />of appreciation to members of the Volunteer Fire Department who <br />are being called into service was read. It was moved by Nilsen, <br />seconded by Mortenson and unanimously voted to send these <br />letters of appreciation written on the special forms. <br />
