1653 <br />SPECIAL ?.MEETING OCTOBER 16, 1961. <br />r~~geeting was called to order at 7:l~5, the following Council ?embers being present: <br />Harold C. Nilsen, T~~ayor; George Shavor, Trustee; Charles P. Stone, Trustee; <br />Vrillis ~°darkentien, '"rustee; W. A. AQortenson, Clerk. Also present were Frank <br />Stanton of Stanton-Pittelkow, and Fthel E. V~'hite, Deputy Clerk and Deputy Treasurer. <br />Salaries, Mr. Stanton suggested a pay-scale policy starting with a <br />police and rate for inexperienced men. If an experienced man is <br />Firemen hired, he should be given credit for his experience and <br />fitted in to his bracket. <br />Pay scale decided upon as follows: <br />$100.00 a month for an inexperienced man. <br />~?~10.00 at the six month anniversary <br />?420.00 at the beginning of the second year. <br />~~.30.00 at the beginning of the third year. <br />~R1a1G0.00 at the beginning of the fourth year. <br />$1150.00 at the beginning of the fifth year. <br />Increases should go into effect on anniversary date, with <br />an adjustment of 2-3~~ per year, or every other year. <br />The Village could set up a probationary period of 6 months. <br />He suggested forgetting the fringe benefits and confining <br />benefits to increases in salaries. <br />He also suggested exrloring the possibility of more econom- <br />ical fire protection by arrangements with other departments. <br />Nilsen moved that the firm of Stanton-Pittlekow ~ Associates <br />of St. Paul, Minnesota, be engaged to review the salaries <br />of the paid personnel in the police and fire departments, <br />rules and regulations, Village ordinances pertaining thereto, <br />duties, etc., and make that report some time during the <br />summer of 1962 at a cost not to exceed ~fi300.00. Seconded <br />by r~4ortenson and carried. <br />'3udget BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of <br />Falcon Heights that the following sums be and they hereby <br />are levied upon the taxable property of the Village of <br />Falcon Heights for the year 1961, collectible in the year <br />1962, for the following purposes: <br />General Fund $70,890.27 <br />Firemen's Relief 1,500.00 <br />Pera 3,13l~.15 <br />AND that the following figures, as previously certified by <br />schedule for debt retirement, be conf firmed to the County <br />Auditor as correct on their record: <br />V'Fatermain Imp. of 1960 No. 1 X1,500.00 <br />Larpenteur Ave., VIP~Z~PS 2,500.00 <br />San. Sew. Imp. No. 1 - 1959 20,7.6.25 <br />9~2 ,7 .2 <br />
