1750 <br />REGULAR ~~'~ETING TdAY 9, 1962. <br />Meeting was called to order at 7 p. m., the following Council Members being present: <br />Harold C. Nilsen, Mayor; W. A. Mortenson, Clerk; C. P. Stone, Trustee; 1'~illis <br />Warkentien, Trustee; and Geo. Shavor, Trustee. Also present were ~d. J. Galvin, <br />Village _Rttorney; B. Lemberg, Engineer; Vdm. E. Olsen, Treasurer; and Ethel E. White, <br />Deputy Clerk and ±~eputy Treasurer. <br />Fire Dept. Letter of appreciation from Mrs. L. P. ?~.~artin, thanking the Fire <br />Department and the Sheriff's Deputy for their help in an emergency <br />was read and referred to the Fire Department. <br />Streets: Letter of appreciation from Raymond C. ~'~'irth, thanking the Village <br />for the efficient snow removal the past tirinter, was read and filed. <br />Ramsey Co. Letter soliciting donations for the Junior Sheriffs of Ramsey <br />Junior Sher- County was read and filed. The Village does not have funds available <br />iff Comm.: for this purpose. <br />Beess Report of annoyance by bees was read. The Village does not have an <br />ordinance against bees and hasn't had enough complaints to warrant <br />pa:; sing one. <br />Greater St. Note from Don Arndt, Police Commissioner, recommending discontinuance <br />Paul Safety of membership, was read. Trustee Stone shares Arndt's opinion. No <br />Council. formal action was taken. <br />Bonds: Letter from Rivard Plumbing, expressing the~_r opinion that the re- <br />quire~nent of bonds was an unnecessary additional expense, was read. <br />Clerk Mortenson will check into the -utter and report to the Council. <br />Retirement Letter from the University of Minnesota, advising-they were having <br />Housing: a short course on retirement hortzsing, was read and filed. <br />~~_, <br />Load Letter from the County Engineer, advising they have authority to <br />Limits: set weight limits as considered safe for various roads, was read and <br />filed. <br /> <br />Fire ~. <br />Tt was moved by Stone, seconded by~Warkentien and voted to confirm <br />Department the officers certified as elected as follows: <br />Elections <br /> Fire Chief, Albert Helbig. <br /> Assistant Chiefs, Gordon H Nelson and Gerry 3aden. <br /> Captainss S. P. Schultz and H. J. Dachtera <br /> Lieutenants, B. J. Slama and D. L. ''erkel. <br />Civil. Letter from Leo ~''eet, Director of Civil Defense, expressing dis- <br />Defense: appointment over the lack of cooperation and interest in Civil Defense, <br /> was read. Stone moved that the Village Council encourage Leo ~~1eet to <br /> continue as Civil Defense Director a.nd to do what he can to do the ;lob <br /> as it should be done and that he continue at the present salary of <br /> X50.00 per month. Seconded by Shavor and carried. <br /> Warkentien moved that the letter V,'eet proposes to mail to the Citizens <br /> of the Village be approved, but that either the letter or the az~plica- <br /> tion specify jobs for which he would like volunteers.
