1756
Lemberg: There are times when fill can be obtained at practically no cost.
Nilsen: We vrould never Hermit filling that property. I t cannot be done
because you would have flooding conditions. Dahl would have 7'
of water in his basement.
Lemberg: Storm sewer would have to be put in there before this could be
done. Storm sewer is paid for on a square foot basis by the entire
area that contributes water to the drainage area.
??rs. Otto: ti~4'hy the proposed park area? Our back yards are parks. Are you
going to nut a fence aro-~:.nd +,he mosquito breeder:
Lemberg: It would be no different than it is right now. A temporary pond-
ing area. with facilities to ±ake away the water.
?~~rs. Hustru- It would make a difference because there would be the road. We
lid: have a lovely park too. There are always going to be people who
want land. P,Sost of us have lived here from 25 to 16 - 12 - 14
,years and we do not feel the need. for any change-over. We would
like to have it stay dust as it i.s now.
Nilsen: 1`le call these meetings because we like to have z~eonle tell us in
their own words how they feel on these matters.
'.4rs. Strait: e have herd that one of these lots has already been sold.
Galvins Tt could have been sold by "metes and bounds'" - a reference to
the original survey rather than 'oy lot, block and addition. All
the property on Fairview was sold with a "metes and bounds"
description.
Otto: Wkly is the land in the center marked "undeveloped'" property?
Galvins By "undeveloped'" they mean there are no buildings on the specific
property in the Proposed Land Use ?1 an.
Reynold Th?se people have been rather unanimous in their opinion that
Dahl: they ~.~rant the land but I think there remains the problem of this
narrow strip owned by Julia Lindig which is going to be a problem.
It should be planted to grass and trees. It is now an eye-sore.
Have you even given any thought to buying a sizable stretch of
this property?
Nilsen: ?~io more than vre have thought of this ponding area. for a type of
recreational use. A road running straight up and down would render
that land unusable. You have the problem about buffering, maybe
20', and you come up vrith a 100' stretch which isn't usable for
any specific purpose. You have to provide usable space and
then a 'ouffer to protect your private property.
Dahl: The value of the land is very lavr. Novr you have a chance to buy
it for a very nominal .amount.
Nilsen: Vie are at a stalemate right now. The pressures become tremendous.
VYe should plan the u.se of this land for the future. Certainly your
