Hardware stores means establishments primarily engaged in the retail sale of a number of
<br />basic hardware lines, such as tools, builders' hardware, paint and glass, housewares and
<br />household appliances, and cutlery.
<br />Health care, offices and clinics means establishments of health practitioners engaged in
<br />furnishing medical, surgical and other health services to persons, but does not include inpatient
<br />health care services. Included are individual practitioners, group clinics in which a group of
<br />practitioners are associated for the purpose of carrying on their profession, and clinic which
<br />provide the same services through practitioners that are employees. Practitioners may or may not
<br />be licensed or certified, depending on state law.
<br />Home furnishing; appliance and equipment stores means retail stores selling goods used for
<br />furnishing the home such as furniture, floor coverings, draperies, glass and chinaware, domestic
<br />stoves, refrigerators, other household electrical and gas appliances, radios, televisions, computers
<br />and software, consumer electronics, prerecorded audio and video tapes and discs, music, and
<br />musical instruments. Establishments selling electrical and gas appliances are included in this
<br />group only if the major part of their sales consists of articles for home use.
<br />Home occupation means an occupation carried on in a dwelling unit by the resident thereof,
<br />provided that the use is limited in extent and incidental and secondary to the use of the dwelling
<br />unit for residential purposes and does not change the character thereof.
<br />Hotels and motels means commercial establishments, known to the public as hotels, motor
<br />hotels, motels, or tourist courts, primarily engaged in providing lodging, or loading and meals,
<br />for the general public. Hotels which are operated by membership organizations and open to the
<br />general public are included in this industry. Also included are auto courts, bed and breakfast
<br />inns, cabins and cottages, casino hotels, hostels, hotels (except residential), inns (furnishing food
<br />and lodging), motels, recreational hotels, resort hotels, seasonal hotels, ski lodges and resorts,
<br />tourist cabins, and tourist courts.
<br />Institutional housing means housing for students, nurses, the mentally ill, infirm, elderly,
<br />physically retarded, and similar housing of a specialized nature.
<br />Junkyard means an area where discarded or salvaged materials are bought, sold, exchanged,
<br />stored, baled, cleaned, packed, dissembled, or handled, including but not limited to scrap iron
<br />and other metals, papers, rags, rubber products, bottles, and used building materials. Storage of
<br />such material in conjunction with a permitted manufacturing process when within an enclosed
<br />area or building shall not be included.
<br />Kennel, commercial, means any place where four or more of any type of domestic pets, over
<br />four months of age, are boarded, bred, trained, or offered for sale.
<br />Kennel, private, means any place where four or more of any type of domestic pets, over four
<br />months of age, are owned by any member or members of the household.
<br />Land alteration means the excavation or grading of land involving movement of earth and
<br />materials in excess of 100 cubic yards.
<br />Land reclamation means the reclaiming of land by depositing material so as to elevate the
<br />grade or depositing of a total of more than 50 cubic yards of material per lot or parcel, either by
<br />hauling in or regrading the area.
<br />Landscaping means planting trees, shrubs, and turf such as grasses and shrubs.
<br />Laundries, power, means establishments primarily engaged in opening mechanical laundries
<br />with steam or other power. Included are family and commercial power laundries, and laundry
