Rowley <br />Frank Graham <br />The meeting was called to order at ?r~50~=p• m. by Mayor Mat tenon. <br />Minutes of special meeting of Tuesday, September 6, 1949 were <br />read and approved. <br />Fire Station and John Rysgaard reported to Council that the <br />Village Hall Delay Construction of the new Fire Station and <br />Village Hall eras being he ld up awaiting <br />the ga~i c:a.~Cr type of brick re ~~ ire d in <br />the specifications. Motion was made by <br />Mayor Matteson that Architect Beut ow be <br />authorized to examine other types of <br />brick ~thich are available and if he can <br />find a type of brick comparable to the brick <br />required in the specifications that he be <br />authorized to substitute same. Seconded <br />-~ see last page Shavor • Mo tion carried. ~ <br />Police Prote etion ~?m. Dunke 1, 1474 Craovford, stated that <br />he wanted police protection equivalent ~ <br />to that in the city. R. J. Breckenridge, <br />1483 Y• Larpenteur, objected to two hours <br />a day prote coon and granted full time pol- <br />ice protection, further stating that in- <br />come derived from fines should be able <br />to take care of same . Henry Dachtera <br />stated, need more time; traffic bad. <br />Play Ground This committee consists of Mr. Harjung, <br />Committee Report chairman, Mr . Gillette , and Mr . Rowe 11. <br />Mr. Har jung reported that his committee <br />had had one meeting and stated that the <br />purchase of the ,Jilson property could be <br />used to .very good advantage as a tennis <br />court, soft ball diamond or a skating <br />rink, and gas of the opinion that it -would <br />be a good purchase and asked ~rhen property <br />could be ready for play ground use • One <br />of the committee ehe eked into th:e cigar- <br />ette tax and thought part of same could be <br />used for developing play grounds It was <br />brought out that the fate' has reserved parts of <br />two or three lots for drainage purposes, a1 d <br />the question was asked if any supervision <br />was to be made for the protection of chil- <br />dren. The committee recommended that the <br />~Jilson property be Purchased at this time <br />as the first step in a plan for the deve lop- <br />ment of playgrounds in this village. <br />~1 <br /> <br />
