(A tr t Ve d. 1 O P Iv1.~ _ Frank Graham The meeting xas called to order by Mayor Matteson at 8:10 p.m. Police Protection The members of the Public Safety Committee, the txo justices of the peace, and the police officers xere invited to attend the meeting for an informal discussion of our police protection in the village. Paul Neid of the Sheriff+s office xas present. He gave a report of the calls received at the Sheriff+s office for the year beginning January 1, 19l~9• He advised that for the entire county of Ramsey there are four police cars, xith only txo being used at any one time. Police calls are ansxered as fast as possible, and if a car is not available the dispatcher asks the City of St. Paul for assistance. He stated that the present police force for the county is inadequate and help must be given by the individual villages or the Legislature must authorize additional men on the Ramsey County police force. The txo 3ustices of the peace reported on the number of court cases held for the period August 29 to the present time. Lloyd Riley passed on 58 cases for xhich fines of ~1i55 xere collected. Paul Cpppini passed on !t6 cases for xhic~ fines of X303 xere co].]e cted. Joe Rechtiene tendered his resignat ion as chairman of the Public Safety Committee stating that he felt he xas dust too busy to continue the xork any longer. Several suggestions xere made as to xho might be made chair- man of this committee. Mayor Matteson, on behalf of the councils thanked Joe for the xork he had done on the committee. Joe Rechtiene presented the folloxing bills for payment. Henry. Those xho attended. the meeting felt that the village lacked sufficient police protection at the present time. At t1.id pe«tt, l.indic}, arrwed a} Meetinl~.• Ordinance No. 9 The petition of Associated Investors, Inc. dated November 7, 1949 requesting rezoning of the property therein described from Residence District A to Business District xith the limitation thereon that the area be used for parking space only xas next considered.
