(A tr t Ve d. 1 O P Iv1.~ <br />_ Frank Graham <br />The meeting xas called to order by Mayor Matteson at 8:10 p.m. <br />Police Protection The members of the Public Safety Committee, the txo justices of the <br />peace, and the police officers xere invited to attend the meeting for <br />an informal discussion of our police protection in the village. Paul <br />Neid of the Sheriff+s office xas present. He gave a report of the calls <br />received at the Sheriff+s office for the year beginning January 1, 19l~9• <br />He advised that for the entire county of Ramsey there are four police <br />cars, xith only txo being used at any one time. Police calls are ansxered <br />as fast as possible, and if a car is not available the dispatcher asks <br />the City of St. Paul for assistance. He stated that the present police <br />force for the county is inadequate and help must be given by the individual <br />villages or the Legislature must authorize additional men on the Ramsey <br />County police force. <br />The txo 3ustices of the peace reported on the number of court cases held <br />for the period August 29 to the present time. <br />Lloyd Riley passed on 58 cases for xhich fines of ~1i55 xere collected. <br />Paul Cpppini passed on !t6 cases for xhic~ fines of X303 xere co].]e cted. <br />Joe Rechtiene tendered his resignat ion as chairman of the Public Safety <br />Committee stating that he felt he xas dust too busy to continue the xork <br />any longer. Several suggestions xere made as to xho might be made chair- <br />man of this committee. Mayor Matteson, on behalf of the councils thanked <br />Joe for the xork he had done on the committee. Joe Rechtiene presented <br />the folloxing bills for payment. <br />Henry. Those xho attended. the meeting felt that the village lacked <br />sufficient police protection at the present time. <br />At t1.id pe«tt, l.indic}, arrwed a} Meetinl~.• <br />Ordinance No. 9 The petition of Associated Investors, Inc. dated November 7, 1949 <br />requesting rezoning of the property therein described from Residence <br />District A to Business District xith the limitation thereon that the <br />area be used for parking space only xas next considered. <br />After discussion Tmistee Shavor read and moved the adoption of <br />Ordinance No. 9 xhich°is entitled "An Ordinance Amending the Zoning Map <br />xhich is a Part of Ordinance No. 8~ The motion xas seconded by Trustee <br />Rysgaard and the follrnring vote xas had and taken: <br />Ayes - Matteson, Shavor, Rysgaard L i f1d 1 <br />=Nays - None <br />
