REGULAR MEETING, TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 1950 (Cont'd) <br />Alley between <br />Idaho and Californ- <br />ia, east and west <br />from Arona to Pascal. <br />1~~Y~. <br />S®aborn reported only information he~,had received on this <br />proposed improvement was by letter fre~~Harry D~a .~ <br />Sea orn recommended the alley be improved by ~~'"' <br />the benefited property with approval of the County <br />Engineer, Street Commissioner and the Council. <br />Fire Department After discussion, Stewart moved that the rules and regulations <br />rules and of the Fire Department as submitted by Fire Chief Swanson at <br />regulations. the August 8 meeting, be referred to the Fire Protection <br />committee for study and recommendation. Seconded by Rekstad <br />and carried. <br />Purchase authority Stewart brou ~t up the question of setting a maximum amount <br />of Fire Chief. that the Fi re Dhief may be authorised to spend for Fire <br />Department purchases. Henry moved that the purchasing authority <br />of the Fire Chief be referred to the Fire Protection committee, <br />with specifio request to have the committee suggest a resolution <br />to be passed by the council, covering the Chief's authority to <br />make such purchases. Stewart seconded and motion carried. <br />Fire Department bias next discussed and Shavor moved that the sum of X12.50 <br />mileage per month be allowed, commencing September 1, 1950 and <br />continuing until further action by the council. Seconded <br />by Rekstad. Carried. <br />Fair gQannds Our attorney's letter of July 31, 1950, re beer and <br />cigarette & beer cigarette licenses at the State Fair grounds, was again <br />licenses discussed. It was then agreed to have Mr. Graham secure <br />an opinion of the Attorney General as to the application <br />of the Village cigarette licensing ordinance and the Village <br />beer licensing ordiseuaoe to such sales at the Fair Grounds. <br />Alley between E. J. Bane, 1482 West Idaho, inquired as to Filing a <br />Idaho and Iowa petition for improvement of the alley hn~land other property <br />owners on the south aide of Idaho and north side of Iowa <br />are interested in. Mr. Kane was advised. as to procedure <br />and informed that the petition in favor of the alley improve- <br />ment should be signed by at least 35 per cent of the abutting <br />property owners. <br />Division of personal The clerk reported being informed that the Pillage of Rose- <br />property and of ville had signed the personal property agreement and that <br />real property. they were preparing a proposed agreement covering division <br />of real estate. <br />Letter re black- In connection with the blaektopping of Garden avenue from <br />topping Garden Ave. Hemline to Snelling, Henry moved, seconded by Shavor, that <br />to County Surveyor the clerk write a latter to the County Surveyor, expressing <br />thanks on behalf of the council and residents of the Village <br />for a very good Sob. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Treasurer's report Van Hovers reported receipt of the May tax settlement, amount- <br />, ing to $24,251.54, also receipt of two checks Prom the State <br />Treasurer totaling X3,843.00, ooveriag oigarette and liquor <br />tea apportionments. Urged that action be taken by the oouacil <br />to secure our proper share of the Fire Department Relief <br />association levy based on 2~ of fire insurance premiums <br />collebted in our area. Attorney Graham advised that apportion- <br />ment of these funds is made by the Fire Marshal's office out <br />
