<br />of Special Meeting, October 17, were approved as read, on motion by Shavor,

<br />9dr. Gustafson Mr. Gustafson, appearing in behalf of the Falcon Heights
<br />re post office business men, said they had checked the proposed post offf ce
<br />resolution. resolution and had no oorreetions or additions to offer.
<br />Said the business men appreciated what the Council had done.
<br />Post Office The following resolution was then moved by Stewart, seconded
<br />Resolution: by Lindig, and unanimously adopted:
<br />~f(IiEREAS, the Village of Falcon Hei ghts is located in the center
<br />of a populous and growing urban area which includes the Village of
<br />Lauderdale, the Village of Roseville, the proposed Village of Arden
<br />Hills and Mounds View Township and the northwest extremity of the City of St
<br />Paul; and
<br />WHEREAS, within the past five years this area has grown at an
<br />exceedingly fast rate and according to the preliminary figures of the
<br />1950 Federal census the population of the Village of Falcon Heights is
<br />3,861; the population o#' the Village of Lauderdale is 1,032; the popu-
<br />lation of the Village of Roseville is 6,433; the population of the
<br />Township of Mounds View is 6,173; and the incorporation census of the
<br />proposed Village of Arden Hills is 313; and
<br />WHEREAS, the nearest United States Post Office branches serving
<br />this area are located at University and Snelling and at Como and Carter
<br />Avenues and are so inaccessible to this area that most of the residents
<br />and businessmen of the area are forced to transact their business in the
<br />main Post Office located in the down town area of the City of St Paul; and
<br />•. WHEREAS, the residents and the businessmen of this area have __ _ .

<br />in this vicinity in view of the increase in population and the increase _ .
