T- <br />~' 1 <br />Barthel Mra. Mary Barthel, the owner of several lots in Barthel Villas, <br />Villas inquired as to what oould be done with respect to improving <br />drainage on these lots so as to make them suitable for home <br />development. Mrs. Maf~thel was informed that she and other <br />property owners in the area should try and interest a developer <br />in providing proper drainage facilities so as to qualify the <br />property for building permitts. <br />Surfacing Iowa In connection with their home development pro~eet, E. A. gad Norman <br />Iowa, Northome Magnuson, of the Aladdin Improvement Company, appeared before the <br />2nd Add'n. Council as to having Iowa Avenue, Northome 2nd Addition, graded <br />and surfaoed. They explained thet at present their oonstruetion <br />trunks cannot move in and out when it rains, and that prospective <br />home purchasers will not buy until the street question is settled. <br />After discussion, it was agreed to refer the matter to Commissioner <br />Seaborn to have the street brought up to grade end graveled arri to <br />secure nn estimate for resurfacing and oiling next spring, together <br />with a certified check from the developer, covering payment for <br />the work, before the street, is accepted by the Village for maintenance. <br />Fumes, Falcon R. J. Stenberg, 1540 Crawford, and H. G. Grant, 1546 Crawford, <br />Heights Dry oomplained about fumes from the Falcon Heights Dry Cleaning plant <br />Cleaners and asked that the Village haste a cheek made to determine if the <br />fumes constitute a health hazard to people on ad3oining property. <br />It was decided to have Health Officer Lindig write the State <br />Division of Industrial Health, requesting than to oheek on the <br />condition. <br />Barthel & Letter of August 6, 1951, free Fire Chief Swanson, as to appointments <br />Looke appointed of K. Barthel and R. Locke, full-time firemen, as Captains. <br />Capta£oas, Fire. <br />Dept. <br />Andrew Hustrulid Andrew Hustrulid, 1805 N. Fairview, appeared before the Counail <br />appointed to as nominee for membership on the Fire Department Committee. <br />Fire Dept.Committee After discussion, it was moved by Stewart, seconded by Henry, <br />that Mr. Hustrulid be appointed as representative of Falcon Height s <br />tax payers on the Fire Department committee. Motion carried un- 1,~ <br />animously. The BQayor then declared Hustrulid duly appointed to <br />office and that his appointment oompleted membership of the <br />committee, the other two members including Gordon Nel son, to <br />represent volunteer Firemen, and Clyde Stewart, eounoil representative. <br />Lockers & Fire Chief Swanson reported having 15 volunteers at present, that <br />shower two sleepers are volunteers and two sleepers are paid firemen. <br />ourtain In this conneotion, he said additional lockers were needed, and <br />estimated that two more lockers could be provided for X59.00 plus <br />X5.00 for hardware and X2.00 for finishing. After disoussion, <br />Rekstad moved that purchase of two lookers be approved. Seconded <br />by Stewart emd carried unanimously. <br />Shower On recommendation of the Fire Chief, Rekstad moved purchase of a <br />curtain ourtain for sleepersT shower. Seconded by Shavor and carried. <br />Fire Preven- In connection with Fire Prevention Week, October 7-13, 1951, the <br />tine. Fire Chief presented samples of literature which he suggested <br />could be distributed to homes. It was agreed to purchase 1,000 <br />questionnaires at X7.50 and to refer the matter of distribution <br />to the Fire Department Committee. <br />
