<br />9-ear garage Harold Bershow and Attorney Finkelstein, represen ting the
<br />permit approved Miles Lumber company, appeared before the Council in connection
<br />with securing permit to build #+sg-a 9-car garage with 4-foot
<br />setback, at 1510 west Larpenteur. After discussi®n, they
<br />agreed to withdraw their request and asked to build the
<br />garage in conformity with the building code's 6-foot aet-
<br />baek requirement. Shavor then moved that the application
<br />of Arthur Franz for permit as amended to erect a 9-car
<br />garage at the rear of 1510 hest Larpenteur be granted.
<br />Seconded by Stewart and carried unanimously.
<br />Sauers Construction R. K. Dougan, Hngineer, and R. J. Breckenridge, Treasurer,
<br />Co. re permit of the Sauers Constru etion Company, asked to be heard with
<br />violation regard to building code violati on by their Company at 1552
<br />west Larpenteur. It did not occur to them, they sai d, that
<br />a permit was needed on such s small Sob, that upon learning
<br />differently, they tried fer a couple of days to contact the
<br />building inspector. When red tag was placed, the store front
<br />had been torn out and since it involved a safety problem,
<br />they completed the wo rk. After some discussion, Shavor
<br />moved that explanation of the Sauers Construction Company as
<br />to building oo de violation in connection with alteration on
<br />Applebaum Storeā¢ entrance be accepted, with the understanding
<br />that any future fobs performed by this Company be handled in
<br />strict conformity with the building code, and that the build-
<br />ing inspector be authorized to issue a building permit to
<br />cover this Sob. Seconded by Stewart and carried unanimously.
<br />Notify Lindig then moved, seconded by Henry, that w.r~. Stepnitz,
<br />Stepnitz of Associated Investors, Inc., be notified that the building
<br />code planes the responsibility for obtaining a building permit
<br />upon the owner of the property involved, and while it is
<br />permissible for his agent to obtain such a permit that failure
<br />of either the owner or agent tv ®btain a permit is a violation
<br />by the owner for ~ieh the owner can be held for violation cf
<br />tha node. Carried by unanimous vote.
