250 Recessed & The meeting recessed at 8:30 P.Y. and reconvened at 10:10 P.Y. reconvened Congregational Building Inspeotor Reichow reported that the Congregational Church bldg. Church is considering erection of a new building at Pascal and Holton. It is, Reiehow said, proposed to finish and utilize the basement portion for awhile and to complete the upper structure at a later date. when the new building is completed it is planned, he said, to tear down the present church structure and to utilize the space for parking. Before passing on question of a special permit for a basement structure to begin with, it was suggested that an informal meeting be held to determine how many residents favor or oppose the proposal. The question as to what the setback should be for the new build- ing was referred to the building inspector. Heating In reporting on check of the heating system, Rekstad said that plant leading from a two-inoh pipe from the main furnace there were seven one-inch pipes, three of which lead to the auditorium and lift the water approximately 12 feet. He said capacity of the two-inch peps is not suff iaient to p rovide the water necessary to heat the auditorium properly. The clerk will ask Fire Department Committee Chairman Hustrulid to contact Rekstad regarding the matter. University Treasurer Van Hoven read a letter from T.L. O'Hearn, Real Estate lease Manager, University of Minnesota, returning check 1004 for X15.00, .lease payment. The clerk was instructed to file the letter and check in the Village safety deposit box. To publish Lindig moved that the clerk be authorized to publish the 1951 Financial Village Pinanei~l statement in The Rose Tribune. Seconded by statement Hen ry and carried unanimously. Fire Chief's wags on motion by Lindig, seconded by Rekstad, referred to annual report the Fire Department conunittee. and inventory Civilian Mayor. Henry reported that the Civil Defense committee met at. Defense the Village Hall, January 24th, with an attendance of 18. The meeting was held, he said, to formulate plans for the organization of auxiliary fire and police departments. falter Randt heads the Civilian Defense organization and Mrs. Earl Hanscom is in charge of the women's division. Training for each department will start soon. Public Safety Letter from Yr. Darrell, of the State Highway Department, regard- ing safety improvements made in the Village in 1951, was read and referred to Public Safety Committee Chairman Arndt. Apportionment Letter of January 8 from County Auditor was noted, showing road & bridge amount apportioned to Falcon Heights from County road arxi fund bridge fund for 1952 , amount s to ~2 , 210.13
