29 <br />Alley Messrs. Spindler, Stenberg and Grant inquired relative to the alley <br />from Snelling to Arona between Crawford and Larpenteur, requesting <br />that the grade be lowered to better conform to the level of thei r <br />lots for drainage reasons. Shavor moved that the matter of <br />improving said alley, as well as the proposed grading of the <br />north-south "T" alley, be referred to the Street Commissioner for <br />checking and report to the council with recommendation. Seconded <br />by Lindig and carried unanimously. <br />Alleys On motion by Henry, seconded by Lindig, it was voted to refer to <br />the Village Attorney letter dated July 16, 1952 from Attorney <br />Bouthilet, representating Douglas Rees, also County Surveyor's <br />letter of July 22, 1952, re grading and surfacing of a portion <br />of alley in Kellers Rearrangement of Block 10, Falcon Heights <br />addition, together with copy of letter of November 9, 1951, from <br />County Surveyor with recommendation and estimates for improvements <br />to alley between Larpenteur and Crawford. <br />Water from After discussion, Lindig moved that the clerk write Douglas Rees, <br />National copy ~D Don Julen, stating that a recent test in the presence of <br />Tea Roof Don Julen determined defini tsly that water running into the storm <br />sewer across Larpenteur avenue is air conditioning water from the <br />roof of the National Tea Store, and in acco rdance with agreement <br />that the council will expect Yr. Rees to take whatever action is <br />necessary to correct this condition. Seconded by Henry and <br />carried unanimously. <br />Accounting Treasurer Van Hoven reported on contact with the Public Examiner's <br />procedure - office regarding accounting procedure in connection with alley <br />Budget and curbing improvements. As to planning the 1953 budget, it <br />was agreed that the Treasurer write to heads of departments so <br />. as to have their budget needs available for the August 26,1952 <br />meeting. <br />Truck &tatter of providing insurance coverage for the 1947 Ward La France <br />Insurance pumper was discussed, and the clerk was directed to check further. <br />Relief Letter from the Fire Department committee conveying the Fire <br />fireman Chief's recommendations as to appointment of a fireman to relieve <br />appointed. paid firemen while on vacations in August, was read. On motion <br />by Lindig, seconded by Shavor, it was voted unanimously that the <br />Fire Chief be directed to appoint Robert Yoder to. said position. <br />Permits - Henry moved that construction permits not be required for the <br />curbing„ Larpenteu r curbing improvement authorized by the council June 10, <br />alleys 1952, nor for the improvement of seven alleys authorized in the <br />minutes of July 1, 1952.
