~~ <br />Alley Letter of September 4, 1952, from Richard N. Prahke <br />complaints and letter of S®ptember 9, 1952, from G.W. Carver, <br />both addressed to Mayor Henry, protesting conditions <br />allegedly due to surfacing of alley in the rear of <br />their homes, were read. The clerk was asked to <br />inform Engineer Carley of these complaints. <br />Rees alley Engineer Carley's letter of September 11, 1952, quoting <br />price from Mr. Holm, contractor, of X600.00 for repairing <br />alley adjacent to the Rees property north of Larpenteur <br />as stated in Mr.Carley's letter. After discussion, Shavor <br />moved to retain Carley to make a survey and to provide <br />recommendations for the improvemen t of the east and west <br />alley bounded by Arona, Snelling Drive, C$awford and <br />Larpenteur. Seconded by Rekstad and carried unanimously. <br />Iowa-Hoyt alley Letter from Attorney Graham relating to petition to <br />petition improve alley between Iowa and Hoyt avenues from Albert <br />to Pascal, suggesting withholding of council action on <br />this and similar petitions until early next year. On <br />motion by Stewart, seconded by Rekstad, it was voted <br />unanimously that the petition b® held over and that Elmer <br />T. Nelson, 1452 hest Iowa, whose name appears first on <br />said petition, be so advised. <br />Natural gas Attorney Graham's letter as to availabilty of natural <br />gas for Falcon Heights was read and referred to the <br />clerk who will inform those who made inquiry. <br />Trash can - Rekstad reported the businessmen had agreed to replace <br />Sickle bar mower - the trash can reported damaged at a previous meeting. <br />He also reported on proposed purchase of a sickle bar <br />mower. After discussion, it was agreed to defer purchase <br />and to hire the work done. <br />Weeds It was reported that John Leinen could be hired to cut <br />weeds in the Village at X3.75 an hour, including labor <br />and weed cutting machine, with no charge for transportation <br />to and from the Village area. <br />Fire runs to <br />1860 N. Snelling I~iatter of securing a full report on the two Fire runs <br />to 1860 Snelling Drive the evening of August 29th, was <br />referred to the Fire Department committee. <br />Firemen's salaries Joint letter from Firemen Robert D. Locke and Kenneth J. <br />Barthel, referring to their previous request for salary <br />increases was referred to the Fire Department committee <br />for recommendation. <br />40 mile speed limit, Rekstad moved that the County be notified to have 40-mile <br />Cleveland speed limit signs placed on Cleveland avenue between <br />Larpenteur and Roselawn.
