Otherwise, Seaborn said, <br />school children must walk in the street and sidewalks i~a <br />i~czscxa:aaa[ should be pro vi dad in this area for their safety. <br />Asked for an opinion, Attorney Graham advised that con- <br />sideration of the matter could be initiated by a 4/5 vote <br />of the council or by a petition signed by at least 35f of <br />the owners of property abutting on streets where it is <br />proposed to have sidewalks. <br />30 mile speed attest Commissioner Seaborn recommended posting of 30-mile <br />limit -Tatum speed limit on Tatum;~from Larpenteur to Roselawn, and same <br />was ordered unanimously on motion by Rekstad, seconded by <br />Lindig. <br />Federal rent <br />control continued Attorney Graham's letter of September 19, 1952, relative <br />to continuation of Federal rent control was read. After <br />discussion, it was voted unanimously, on motion by Rekstad, <br />seconded by Henry, to adopt the following resolution: <br />Resolution: Pursuant to Section 204 (f) of the Housing and Rent Act <br />of 194?, as amended, the Village Council, the governing <br />body of the incorporated Village of Falcon Heights, State <br />of Minnesota, hereby declares by this resolution adopted <br />this 23rd day of September, 1952, that a substantial <br />shortage of housing accommodations exists which requires <br />the continuance of Federal rent control in the Village of <br />Falcon Heights. <br />1 <br />It is further resolved that a duly certified copy of this <br />resolution, shall promptly be sent to the Director of Rent <br />Stabilization, iNashington, D.C. <br />Heating system Proposal to increase the efficiency of the Village Hall and <br />Fire station heating system was discussed .flzrther. Rekstad <br />will endeavor to secure recommenda~ion from heating architects <br />as to how much of present heating equipment should be retained. <br />Shavor to content heating contrator Cannon. <br />Polio Health Officer-Lindig reported a case of polio at 212? B. hest <br />Hoyt. <br />Fuel oil The clerk reported on phone bids received from six fuel oil <br />companies on fuel oil needs of the Village for the 1952-1958, <br />the lowest bid being 11.9 per gallon for No. 2 fuel oil <br />delivered, on a keep-fill basis, by Thorne Coal and Oil <br />Company. Henry moved, seconded by Shavor, that Thorne <br />Coal & Oil Company's bid be approved.
