Motion carried unanimously. <br />Fire Dept. Andrew Hustrulid, Chairman, Fire Department Committee, <br />Committee appeared before the council to report on matte rs considered <br />r®ports by his committee at their meeting of March 13, 1953, as <br />follows: <br />1. In connection with fire protection contracts; Hustrulid <br />stated he had contacted Mayor Allen of Lauderdale about <br />increasing the standby charge from ~?5.00 to X100.00 per <br />month, and that Mayor Allen had indicated the proposal would <br />b® given consideration by Lauderdale's council if a letter <br />requesting such an increase is filed with Lauderdale's clerk. <br />2. On the matter of additional equipment; Hustrulid said the <br />main item was 1,500 feet of fire hose needed by the department <br />for reserve and Por replacing some of the old hose. Said th e <br />committee recommends purchase of such equipment as was ap~roved <br />for purchaae on the 1952 budget, including 500 feet of 2-~ inoh <br />hos®, one hose clamp and one 2~"inoh 3umbo mystery nozzle. <br />Hustrulid stated that authoriti es he had contacted in various <br />communities are agreed that a certain amount of reserve hose <br />is desirable and that some new hose should be purchased each year <br />to replace old or worn hos®. <br />3. On the Fire Chief's r equ est for salary ad3ustments ; the <br />committee, Hustrulid sai d, recommends. no change be made at <br />this time. <br />Lauderdale After discussion, Lodahl moved that a letter be written to <br />standby the Village of Lauderdale with reference to increasing the <br />contract present $75.00 monthly Pire protection standby charge to X100 <br />per month, with the understanding that the letter be delivered <br />personally by Trustee Lodahl to Mayor Allen of Lauderdale., <br />and that Lodahl discuss with Mr. Allen th® possibilit y of a <br />flarther increase in the standby charge and the possibility of <br />gettin g a number of volunteer firemen from Lauderdale so as <br />to provide for their own fire inspection. Seconded by Lindig <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Fire Equipment Attorney Graham was asked to obtain specifications and <br />estimated costs necessary for advertising for bids for fire <br />hose, one hose clamp and one 2~" Jumbo mystery nozzle. <br />Salaries - Henry moved that the council act in acoordanoe with the <br />Fire Dept . recommendati on of the Fire Departme~ committee, as .stated <br />in their letter of March 24, 1953, that no charge be made at <br />this time in the wages paid to Fire Department personnel, and <br />that the Clerk so notify the Fire Chief. Seconded by Lindig <br />and carried unanimously. <br />
