Andrew Hustrulid, Chairman, Fire Department Committee, Committee appeared before the council to report on matte rs considered r®ports by his committee at their meeting of March 13, 1953, as follows: 1. In connection with fire protection contracts; Hustrulid stated he had contacted Mayor Allen of Lauderdale about increasing the standby charge from ~?5.00 to X100.00 per month, and that Mayor Allen had indicated the proposal would b® given consideration by Lauderdale's council if a letter requesting such an increase is filed with Lauderdale's clerk. 2. On the matter of additional equipment; Hustrulid said the main item was 1,500 feet of fire hose needed by the department for reserve and Por replacing some of the old hose. Said th e committee recommends purchase of such equipment as was ap~roved for purchaae on the 1952 budget, including 500 feet of 2-~ inoh hos®, one hose clamp and one 2~"inoh 3umbo mystery nozzle. Hustrulid stated that authoriti es he had contacted in various communities are agreed that a certain amount of reserve hose is desirable and that some new hose should be purchased each year to replace old or worn hos®. 3. On the Fire Chief's r equ est for salary ad3ustments ; the committee, Hustrulid sai d, recommends. no change be made at this time. Lauderdale After discussion, Lodahl moved that a letter be written to standby the Village of Lauderdale with reference to increasing the contract present $75.00 monthly Pire protection standby charge to X100 per month, with the understanding that the letter be delivered personally by Trustee Lodahl to Mayor Allen of Lauderdale., and that Lodahl discuss with Mr. Allen th® possibilit y of a flarther increase in the standby charge and the possibility of gettin g a number of volunteer firemen from Lauderdale so as to provide for their own fire inspection. Seconded by Lindig and motion carried unanimously. Fire Equipment Attorney Graham was asked to obtain specifications and estimated costs necessary for advertising for bids for fire hose, one hose clamp and one 2~" Jumbo mystery nozzle. Salaries - Henry moved that the council act in acoordanoe with the Fire Dept . recommendati on of the Fire Departme~ committee, as .stated in their letter of March 24, 1953, that no charge be made at this time in the wages paid to Fire Department personnel, and that the Clerk so notify the Fire Chief. Seconded by Lindig and carried unanimously.
