3;'>~ State Fire Following letters in this connection were read - School Apr 2? - From Fire Chief Swanson, dated March 20, 1953, requesting May 1. (1) authorization for the Chief and one volunteer fireman to attend the Minnesota State Fire School at the Agricultural School campus, week of A ril 27 - May 1, 1953 - (2~ Request that four volunteers take par in drill & be reimbursed for expenses.) From State Fire Marshal's office to Fire Chief Swanson, asking i f Falcon Hei ght s can furnish enough firemen to put on a drill practice in front of the grand stand as one of the features of opening day in the afternoon at the school, as a demonstration to show what smaller town fire departments are doing in ladder raising, hose layouts and pumper work. From League of Minnesota Municipalities, dated March 16, 1953, stating the League has agreed to co-sponsor the State Fire School along with the State Fire Marshal's office, the IInder- writers and other agencies. Such schools, the letter stated, have the status of League meetings and may be attended with expenses paid out of the municipal treasury pursuant to League's general statute, Laws 1923, Chapter 211. Fire Chief Swanson appeared at the meeting in connection with estimating expenses to be incurred by the Village in ' participating to the extent proposed. After discussion, Lindig moved that the Village participate in the State Fire Authorized School program, viz; (1) authorize the Chief and one volunteer take part in fireman to attend the Fire Sohool, the one volunteer to be demonstration selected by Falcon Hei ghts volunteer firemnen, and (2) authorize our Fire Department to participate in the opening day demon- stnn~bion as requested in the State Fire Marshal's letter. Lodahl seconded and motion carried unanimously. Clerk's Requisition No. 1, covering office supplies needed by requisition Clerk, was considered. Henry moved approval, seconded by Lodahl and so ordered. Fire Dept. After discussion, requisition No. 2 dated March 18, 1953, requisition supplies for Fire Department, was approved on motion by Lindig a[i seconded by Lodahl with the understanding that postage stamps and report forms desired would be ordered by the Clerk. ?-allay Treasurer Van Hoven reported on the ?-alley improvement assessment assessment payments received to~ia~ It was also reported that a few of the seven assessment roll li sts being passed around in each block had been delayed in getting around. Henry then moved that the period durf ng which such assessments may be paid without interest be extended to April 15, 1953. Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. Post Office In connection with recent announcement by the Post Office as to opening of the new branch post office in Falcon Heights; the Clerk was requested to ask post office authorities why the entire Village had not been included in postal zone 13.
