(1) authorization for the Chief and one volunteer fireman <br />to attend the Minnesota State Fire School at the Agricultural <br />School campus, week of A ril 27 - May 1, 1953 - (2~ Request that <br />four volunteers take par in drill & be reimbursed for expenses.) <br />From State Fire Marshal's office to Fire Chief Swanson, <br />asking i f Falcon Hei ght s can furnish enough firemen to put <br />on a drill practice in front of the grand stand as one of <br />the features of opening day in the afternoon at the school, <br />as a demonstration to show what smaller town fire departments <br />are doing in ladder raising, hose layouts and pumper work. <br />From League of Minnesota Municipalities, dated March 16, 1953, <br />stating the League has agreed to co-sponsor the State Fire <br />School along with the State Fire Marshal's office, the IInder- <br />writers and other agencies. Such schools, the letter stated, <br />have the status of League meetings and may be attended with <br />expenses paid out of the municipal treasury pursuant to <br />League's general statute, Laws 1923, Chapter 211. <br /> Fire Chief Swanson appeared at the meeting in connection <br /> with estimating expenses to be incurred by the Village in <br />' participating to the extent proposed. After discussion, <br /> Lindig moved that the Village participate in the State Fire <br />Authorized School program, viz; (1) authorize the Chief and one volunteer <br />take part in fireman to attend the Fire Sohool, the one volunteer to be <br />demonstration selected by Falcon Hei ghts volunteer firemnen, and (2) authorize <br /> our Fire Department to participate in the opening day demon- <br /> stnn~bion as requested in the State Fire Marshal's letter. <br /> Lodahl seconded and motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk's Requisition No. 1, covering office supplies needed by <br />requisition Clerk, was considered. Henry moved approval, seconded <br /> by Lodahl and so ordered. <br />Fire Dept. After discussion, requisition No. 2 dated March 18, 1953, <br />requisition supplies for Fire Department, was approved on motion by <br />Lindig a[i seconded by Lodahl with the understanding that <br />postage stamps and report forms desired would be ordered <br />by the Clerk. <br />?-allay Treasurer Van Hoven reported on the ?-alley improvement <br />assessment assessment payments received to~ia~ It was also reported <br />that a few of the seven assessment roll li sts being passed <br />around in each block had been delayed in getting around. <br />Henry then moved that the period durf ng which such assessments <br />may be paid without interest be extended to April 15, 1953. <br />Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Post Office In connection with recent announcement by the Post Office <br />as to opening of the new branch post office in Falcon Heights; <br />the Clerk was requested to ask post office authorities why <br />the entire Village had not been included in postal zone 13. <br />
