4 ~ C~ <br />Expenses & As to the Fire Chief and two delegates being reimbursed for <br />wages lost expenses and wages lost in attending conventions, state <br />attending meetings and fire school; it was agreed that the council <br />conventions, would consider expense allowance, also payment for time lost <br />etc. up to a maximum of ffi15.00 per day. <br />Salaries to As to increasing salaries of paid firemen in line rovith firemen's <br />paid men salary schedules in communities such as St Louis Park, Richfield, <br />Columbia Heights, South St Paul and West St Paul. In this <br />connection, the 195b budget report for the Fire Department, as <br />submitted by Fire Department Committee Chairman Hustrulid, was <br />read from the minutes of August 25, 1953• This indicated that <br />a study of conditions in the communities mentioned with respect <br />to height of buildings, hazards, etc., should be undertaken <br />before decision is reached on the salary question. The Volunteers <br />were informed that such study is under way, the Clerk reporting <br />on comparative figures secured in this connection as to the <br />population and total assessed valuation of each community. It <br />was agreed to advise-the Volunteers when study is completed and <br />to ask their representative, John Rysgaard, to attend the <br />council meeting at which this matter and the paid firemen's <br />salaries will be considered. <br />Volunteers' As to increasing compensation of volunteer firemen from l~1.00 <br />compensation to l~2.00 per hour for drill time, and from X2.00 to X3.00 per <br />hour for fire time; there was no ob3ection and the Volunteers <br />were informed the new compensation rates as requested would <br />become effective with the 1954 budget on the first of next <br />year. <br />Ad3ournment: There being no other matters to be heard, the meeting adjourned <br />at 10:00 P.M. <br />~~ <br />Approveds -~- C <br />a or <br />SPECIAL MEETING, WEDNESDAY, SEPTE~!?3ER 16, 1953 <br />Present: H.
