`~ ~~ <br />Stop Signs, The Mayor reported that request for a four-way stop at Hamline <br />Hamline & and Hoyt had been denied by the City of St Paul on the basis <br />Hoyt of a traffic survey at this intersection. <br />Hustrulid Letter of November 28, 1953, from Andrew Hustrulid accepting? <br />accepts his appointment as Village Trustee for term expiring in <br />Trustee January 195b, and offering his resignation from the Fire <br />appt. Department committee. Stewart moved acceptance of Hustrulid's <br />resignation from said committee. Seconded by Lindig and so <br />ordered. <br />Columbia Transit Letter of November 2, 1953, from the Columbia Transit Corporation, <br />Corporation of St Paul, was read, requesting a permit to operate school buses <br />School buses in Falcon Heights. Our attorney was asked to check the statute <br />covering this and to reply to the Columbia Transit Corporation <br />letter. <br />Defective Letter of December 2, 1953, from Hewitt Robins, Inc., Buffalo, N. Y., <br />Fire hose reporting that the section of fire hose returned by the Village <br />was found to be defective by their factory inspector, and that <br />they were arranging to ship to the Village prepaid a new 50-foot <br />length of hose in replacement. <br />r_ <br />I <br />`~ <br />To return Treasurer Van Hoven inquired as to whether he may be authorized <br />Certified check, to return certified check hTo, 18037 for 450.00 received from <br />Fire hose bid Hewitt-Robins, Inc., with their fire hose bid. Henry moved <br />that the Treasurer be authorized to return said check to Hewitt- <br />Robins, Inc. Lindig seconded and so ordered. <br />Special <br />Assessments <br />n ~~`~ ~ <br />.V <br />~R_; <br />'+ i <br />f <br />Treasurer Van Hoven inquired as to whether balance in the <br />special assessments fund, including payments for alley improve- <br />ments and for Larpenteur curbing received prior to the time <br />when unpaid assessments were certified to the County Auditor, <br />should be transferred back to the general fund. After discussion, <br />it was agreed that the clerk should check the minutes as to what <br />was stated when the transfer was made originally out of the <br />general fund and into the special assessments fund. <br />Permit for Letter of December ?1 from Attorney Graham was read as to his <br />Bottled Gas opinion that Sec. 1-3 of Ordinance No. 23 requires that a permit <br />burner be taken out whenever a bottled gas burner is converted over to <br />conversion natural gas. <br />Dop_s wounddd Complaint was reported from Mrs. Donald Roth, 1870 Tatum, <br />with air rifle relative to dogs in her neighborhood being wounded by a <br />neighbor with a high powered air rifle. The clerk was directed <br />to inform Mrs. Roth that the dog owners may have cause for a <br />civil suit and that they should see their own attorney. <br />Water from <br />Natl Tea Store <br />down-spout <br />running into <br />alley <br />al~c~ererac , <br />State FDrgl~shool <br />Henry reported that water from the down spout at the northeast <br />corner of the National Tea Store was running into the alley. <br />The Clerk was asked to write the property owner's r epresentative, <br />Don Julep, to have the condition corrected. <br />Fire Chief Swanson's letter of Dec. 8 was read, asking authority <br />to use one engine and four volunteers for participatin, in the <br />State Fire School evolutions and drills, Apr.26-30,195 on the <br />University's Agricultural Institute Campus.
