4 ~ ~! <br />Civil Letter relative to our Civil Defense program was read. <br />Defense Attorney Graham stated that the suggested Civil Defense <br />ordinance conforms wi th State statutes, and that Civil <br />Defense Directors, Kruse and Kruglac, would like to have <br />the proposed ordinance considered. Ne then furnished <br />each council member a Civil Defense manual, calling their <br />attention to a proposed ordinance on page 107. The r~Iayor <br />announced that a Ciitil Defense meeting had been called for <br />January 19, 195l~, starting at 8s30 P.M., at which time the <br />proposed ordinance would be read and discussed. Stewart <br />moved that Stenzinger and Cartwright be appointed as a <br />committee to attend. and to submit their report at the next <br />council meeting. Hustrulid seconded. and motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Civil Letter of December 3, 1953, from 49. Gayle Starnes, Staff <br />Defense College, Olney, Marjrland, relative to the College's regular <br />course in Civil Defense Administration, was read and ordered <br />filed. <br />Annual Letter of January !~, 195~t, from J.L.P. Darrell, Traffic <br />Traffic Engineer, Department of Highways, requesting report from <br />Safety the Village covering traffic safety activities during 1953, <br />Report was read. Stewart moved that the request be referred to <br />our Fublic Safety Committee Chairman for handling. Shavor <br />seconded and motion carried. <br />County credits Letter of January 11, 1951, from the County ~.ngineer as <br />charged on to the County after discussion with Arthur Lindig agreeing <br />Dec. street dot to charge the Village for drainage work performed in Sept. <br />bill. 1952 in the amount of ~21t6.51. To conform with the County's <br /> request and bookkeeping procedure in giving the Village credit, <br /> Shavor moved that the Clerk be asked to request the County <br /> Engineer to deduct the sum of ~21~6.51 from the Falcon Heights <br /> 1954 allotment with the understanding that the County give <br /> the Village a credit on our December 1953 bill of ~2~t7.21. <br /> Seconded by Cartwright and carried unanimously. <br />Fire Dept. Annual Report of the Fire Department for 1953 was presented <br />Report 1953 and discussed with the Fire Chief, Shavor then moved that <br /> the report with respect to activities of the department for <br /> 1953 and as to inventory be accepted. Seconded by Stewart <br /> and motion carried. <br />Civil Service Letter of January 2, 19511, signed by Fire Department paid <br />for Fire Dept. employes, George E. Swanson, B. J. Slama and Stanley P. <br /> Schultz, was read requesting the Council to establish civil <br /> service for the Fire Department. After discussion, Stenzinger <br /> moved that the communication be referred to our attorney with <br /> request to check applicable statute and to report back at the <br /> next meeting. Stewart seconded and so ordered. <br />Fire Dept. Letter was read from Henry J, Dachtera, Secretary, Volunteer <br />Committee Fire Department, relative to reactivating the Fire Department <br /> committee as provided for in Ordinance No. 1. It was <br /> agreed that Dachtera's letter would be considered when <br /> appointments to the Fire Department committee are made. <br />
