<br />Minutes of the March 10, 1Q5~ meeting were heard and approved as read.
<br />Outside Letter from the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company relative
<br />Public to installation of a~ou~~ide public telephone booth preferably
<br />phone at a busy intersection, was read. The sheriff had previously
<br />booth stated that such booth would be especially helpful in emergency
<br /> cases. The clerk reported he had talked the matter over with
<br /> ?~4r. N.L. Hermes and that the latter inalicated he would consider
<br /> locating of such a booth on his property at Larpenteur and
<br /> Snelling. Stenzinger then moved that the Telephone Company
<br /> be referred to Mr. Hermes to check on proposed phone booth
<br /> locations on the Hermes property as well as elsewhere in the
<br /> Village. Cartwright seconded and motion carried unanimously.
<br />Scarlet Letter from Dr. ~~~.5. 5~khorn about recording case of scarlet
<br />fever fever at 1503 ~'q. Hoyt reported on ;'arch 5, 14S!~, was read
<br /> and ordered filed.

<br />drainage as to a drainage problem involving possible damage to
<br />problem shrubbery and trees on property south of the church, was
<br />read. .After discussion, Shavor moved that, inasmuch as Garden
<br />avenue is a Goun+,,y highway that the request be referred to ~`r.
<br />A,D. Crampton, of the County Engineer's office. Seconded by
<br />Stewart and carried unanimously.
<br />Pedestrian ^.~~essrs. Bishop and ~'dinfrey, of the Falcon r?eights Businessmen's
<br />cross-walk Association; p?r. rrl. Trett,er, of the Northern States Power Company;
<br />and ivlr. ~rilliam Chenoweth, of the County Engineer's office,
<br />appeared before the council to discuss ways and means of improv-
<br />ing our pedestrian cross-walk in the Larpenteur ~ Snelling Avenue
<br />business area. Suggested improvements included larger and
<br />brighter colored warning and stop signs, installation of two
<br />push-button cross-walk signals and better lighting of the area.
<br />Also th at curb painting indicating no parking at, intersection
<br />of Arona and Larpenteur be extended so that motorists making
<br />turns onto Larpenteur at this intersection could see o~4-coming
<br />traffic. w`:r. Bishop also said that having police officer
<br />Earle Smith to enforce pedestrian cross-walk regulations in
<br />the past had worked out very well and urged such policing be
<br />resumed especially between It F.w=. and 5 P.;;~. In connec±,i on
<br />with proposed better lighting of the area, ?.fir. Tretter described
<br />briefly different types of lights, including ornamental, mercury
<br />vapor or fluorescent, and offered free the services of alighting
