Jos. Lukoskie, 1911 Arona, <br />asking that he remove his fence from the Roselawn Avenue <br />right of way to within his property line and swing the gate <br />in on his own property. Seconded by Ster.zi,Zger and motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />n eded <br />Fire equipment A list of~fire equipment items recommended By:cthecF.~~e}~Depart- <br />recommended men t committee at its April 1, 195 meeting with one committee <br />member absent, was discussed, with Fire Chief Swanson providing <br />information on chemox masks and fire hose requirements, In order <br />that the list could be referred to the absent Fire Department <br />committee member, the matter of acting on the proposed fire <br />equipment was deferred, with consent of the Fire Chief, until <br />the next council meeting. <br />Pedestrian Nustrulid reported on meeting with representatives oftbe <br />cross-ti°ralk business property owners, business men and Northern States Poo•:er <br />area lighting Company as~.ass~ic on Thursday, April 8, 195 , in the office of <br />the 3u.F. Stepnitz Agency. He said Cdr. Chenoweth, of the County <br />Engineer's office, was not present. Lighting of the Larpent:eur- <br />Snelling business area and of costs in this connection, were <br />discussed.. It was then agreed, Hustrulid said, to have the <br />Northern States Pobver Company lighting engineer draw up a tentative <br />ornamental lighting arrangement for the business area, and when <br />completed, t;o have another meeting for a further discussion of <br />the mat+.,er. <br />Legislative The I:2ayor summarized ma±ters considered by the Legislative <br />committee committee at its meeting ?arch 30, 195-1, with respect to a <br />municipal liquor store, tuition for school children in University <br />Grove and Thatcher Hall, Railway Express delivery, license fees <br />from concessions on the Fair Grounds, and rates on natural gas. <br />In connection with the statute prohibiting the sale of intoxicating <br />liquor within one mile of the Uriversity Farm, the council concurred <br />in the committee's request to ask that the Village Attorney secure <br />an opinion from the Attorney General as to limits of the University <br />Farm for measuring purposes under the statute. ~ It was also agreed <br />that the Cle rk should advise the committee's Chairman that he is <br />authorized to consult the Village attorney on legislative matters <br />when necessary. <br />Culverts on In connection with culverts along Holton from Roselawn to Garden, <br />Hol+.on from the Street Commissioner recommended filling in ditches in this <br />Roselawn to area so as to eliminate cleaning out of culverts and providing <br />Garden better drainage. Consideration x~as given to ,•rlsether the abutting <br />property owners wish to make the improvement on an assessment <br />basis. The tlayor and Stxeat Commissioner agreed to talk with them <br />about the matter. <br />
