<br />Minn.State Consideration was then given to the following five claims from
<br />Fire School Volunteer firemen, Earl Grumke, Henry Dachtera,. John Rysgaard,
<br />per diem G. Baden and Robert Dowdell, each for per diem payment of X15.00,
<br /> account attendance at Minnesota State Fire School evolutions,
<br /> April 26, 195• It was reported that while the council had
<br /> authorized attendance of four volunteers at said School that
<br /> five volunteers had attendedii[ In connection with the question
<br /> of per diem payments claimed, it was found that Fire Chief Swanson
<br />Letter to had made a written request under date of April 1, 195t~, to the
<br />Mayor Mayor for the $15.00 per diem allowance, but a check of the minutes
<br /> disclosed no council action on such a request, A~t~~ some dis-
<br /> cussion as to the legality of allowing per diem, Cartwright moved
<br /> that payment of expenses in the amount of X60.00, which would be at
<br /> the rate of X12.00 for each of the five volunteers who attended,
<br /> be approved. Stenzinger seconded and motion carried unanimously.
<br /> The Village attorney was then requested to get an interpretation
<br /> from the Attorney General to determine whether Sec. l~38.11 of the
<br /> Minnesota Statutes authorizes payment of a per diem to firemen who
<br /> receive a monthly salary from a private employer.
<br />Public Safety Don Arndt reported to the council on special Village police
<br /> operations started May 19. He stated that if residents before
<br /> leaving on vacations will notify the police, theyr will be glad
<br /> to check on such properties during absences. Residents absent
<br /> on vacations or for other reasons .should not allow their property
<br /> to appear vacant by permitting newspapers to accumulate, etc.,
<br /> he said. In this connection, Arndt reported one break-in this year.
<br />Falcon Hry In connection with peo~s~ting the surface above the boiler at
<br />Cleaners gas the Falcon Dry Cleaners in accordance with Sec.l~-28 of the
<br />installation Building Code ordinance, Building Inspector Christensen reported
<br /> that he and the Fire Chief had made an inspection of this and
<br /> found the ceiling above the boiler properly protected with transite.
<br />Building permit Building Inspector Christensen reported that Oscar J. Husby ~ Sons,
<br />violations contractors, had twice commenced donstruction work within the Village
<br /> without first obtaining building permits from the building inspector.
<br /> The Clerk was asked to write Husby :~ Sons , calling their attention
<br /> to this report and advising them that any further violations of the
<br /> building code by them will be prosecuted..
