<br />Maple Knoll In connection with taking care of the drainage of the low
<br />drainage spot on the grade of Garden Avenue in the Maple Rnoll addition
<br />in accordance with Engineer Carley's recommendation, the
<br />Mayor reported receiving a call from Mr. Berland, contractor
<br />for the Maple Knoll developers, that the original agreement
<br />was for two dry wells to cost about $550.00, but that the
<br />proposed plan requiring two catch basins, two dry wells,
<br />connecting pipes, etc., would cost about $1,000, and that
<br />with catch basin and dry wells and no connecting pipes the
<br />cost would run around ~75C. Berland said they would go ahead
<br />with Mr. Carley's plan and then bill the Village for some or
<br />all of the extra cost, Stenzinger reported.

<br />Hibbing Conven tion Bill for expenses of Fire Chief attending Minnesota State Fire
<br />expense - Fire Chf. Department convention, at Hibbing, June 1Ct, 15 and 16, 19511,
<br /> was considered separately. After discussion, Shavor moved
<br /> that inasmuch as the Fire Chief was the only Fire Department
<br /> member attending the convention, with the result that the
<br /> expense for one man was higher than anticipated, that full
<br /> amount of the bill be paid, amounting to X50.35. Seconded by ;

<br />Cartwright and motion carried unanimously. .
<br />Street bill, in the amount of $398.28 for period April 26 to May 25, 1954,
<br /> leaving an available balance of $731.16 in 19511 allotment,
<br /> was noted.
<br />Baseball Robert Moder, 1660 N. Lexington, St Paul, whp acted as a real
<br />stadium estate agent in connection with proposed locations for a major
<br /> league baseball stadium near Como or Cleveland or north of the
<br /> State Fair grounds, appeared before the council regarding a
<br /> petition with 20 signers, which had been filed with the council
<br /> previously, protesting the action of the council on May 12, 19511
<br /> against the baseball stadium proposal. i~linutes of Iv~ay 26, 19511
<br /> recording unanimous action of the council in voting to file said
<br /> petition on the basis that it did not represent a majority of
<br /> opinion in the Village, was read for Mr. Moder. After some
<br /> discussion, the Mayor informed Mr. Moder that if he could get
<br /> a majority of residents to petition the council in favor of
<br /> such a stadium, ,that said petition would be given consideration.
<br />Mosquito Hustrulid reported that the University estimated the cost of
<br />problem spraying for mosquitoes would run around $2~0 to 9k~75 per acre,
<br /> and that a minimum of two sprayings per year would be required.
<br /> Hustrulid also stated that the effectiveness of such a program
<br /> would be questionable unless handled on a county wide scale,
<br /> Stenzinger then moved that the clerk reply to Mrs. Fell's inquiry,
