4~~7 <br />Mosquitoes stating that the council had looked into the matter of spraying <br />(cont'd) for mosquitoes on a community amide basis, and that information <br /> developed indicates costs would be prohibitive for Falcon Heights. <br /> Seconded by Stewart and motion carried, <br />Parking trucks In connection with a petition dated May 18, 1954, signed by <br />at Falcon Oil Mr. M.G. h4iller, 13I~9 'California Avenue VGest, and ten other <br />Company residents, protesting daytime, overnight and week end parking <br /> of car carriers and trucks at the Falcon Oil Company, Cartwright <br /> reported that Lq.r. Husby told him only one transport truck is <br /> parked at the station occasionally, and if this was not permitted <br /> the truck would be serviced for gas and oil elsewhere. Cartwright <br /> suggested that the petitioners be informed that there is question <br /> whetherthe Village can legally ban such trucks, but that the <br /> station owner, ~?r. Husby, has agreed to landscape the bakk of the <br /> property with any kind of trees agreeable to the petitioners, and <br /> if the petitioners will get together with ?~ir, Husby that. something <br /> mutually satisfactory may be worked out. Shavor then moved that <br /> the substance of Cartwright's report be transmitted to the first <br /> signer of the petition. Seconded by Stewart and motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br />Iowa home not As to petition signed by Mr. Mike J. Elnicky, 1532 Idaho Avenue <br />completed 'JVest, arxi 12 others, requesting the council to act in the matter <br /> of Mr. James C, McGuire, 1529 `J`Test Iowa Avenue, not completing <br /> the building on his property, Shavor reported that he and the <br /> Mayor had been delegated to investigate the matter, and that the <br /> owner promised to try and complete the building this summer. <br /> The owner subsequently made some improvements to the garage and <br /> lawn, Savor said. Shavor then moved that the clerk notify the <br /> first signer of the petition of the action taken in the matter <br /> and the promise secured from the owner. Seconded by Cartwright <br />, and motion carried unanimously. <br />~ <br />Landscaping Shavor also reported. on proposed landscaping around the Villa ge <br />Village Hall Hall, to be done if possible at the same time the Farmers Union <br /> Grain Terminal Association landscapes their adjoining property. <br /> Costs, Shavor said, were roughly figured at ?150.00, including <br /> sloping to Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association fence, 100 <br /> yards of black dirt an d 850 yards of sod, Shavor said he would <br /> consult with Engineer Carley regarding establishing of the grade <br /> and surfacing on driveways. Cartwright moved that establishing <br /> of the grade and landscaping of grounds around the Villa ge Hall <br /> be authorized, subject to approval of the Village Engineer as to <br /> grades and levels, provided the cost is less than X500.00. <br /> Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Chemox masks Recent competitive bids secured on fire equipment items by <br /> the Clerk and Fire Chief were discussed, the Fire Chief <br /> taking part in the discussion with reference to d~selosere <br /> by someone of one of the Chemox mask bids to the Mine Safety <br /> Company people. Because of this the Clerk reported he had <br /> not purchased the two chemmx masks as yet. Stenzinger then <br /> moved that the Clerk be instruc ted to purchase the Chemox masks <br /> • within the next 30 days at the most reasonable price possible, <br /> Cartwright seconded and motion carried unanimously. <br />
