Hermes, the developer, was discussed
with Mr. N. L. Hermes and his attorney, hqr. Charles. E. Nieman,
who were present. Engineer Carley~s letter of October 11, 195Lt,
in connection with his previous recommendation that Fry street,
as shown in the above mentioned proposed subdivision, be dedicated
to a full 60-foot width, and his recommendations with respect to
necessary construction which will have to be done if the street
is to develop with houses constructed on each side of it, was
read. !~!r. Nieman stated that 33 feet of the proposed roadway
is owned by the Village and questioned that the developer had
any right to rebuild a public street. He said that the plat
submitted by Mr. Hermes proposed to dedicate the 12-foot strip
adjacent to Fry street and another 5 feet, so that ultimately
this would be a 50-foot street as it is in the Maple Knoll area.
Mr. Nieman said that *~r. Hermes should not be asked to give
another l0 feet as a boulevard for the benefit of residents
across the street and. that this would cut down the size of the
lots owned by the developer so there would be question as to
whether Mr. Hermes could afford to go_ ahead with the proposed
development. After considerable discussion, it was decided
to hold a special meeting for considering the matter further,
said meeting to be attended by Mr. Hermes and his attorney,
Engineer Carley, the Planning Commission and Street Commissioner
Seaborn. The Village Clerk was asked to arrange such a meeting
on a date to be agreed upon.
