The matter was referred <br />to Building Inspector Christensen for checking and recommendation. <br />Proposes After discussion of the proposal, to extend the water main to <br />water main our Vill age Hall and .i",i~e . Station, ~Car°twright moved that Mayor <br />to Village StenzinGer write the St Paul mayor, asking him if the City would <br />Hall be willing to consider our request for extension of the water <br />main to our Village Hall and Fire Station, and if so, that the <br />City furnish us an estimate of the cost. Seconded by Hustrulid <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />State Fair In connection with land which the State Fair Board has reportedly <br />Board proposal offered St Paul as a stadium site on the basis of exchanging <br />re land same for land in the Village area on Larpenteur, question was <br />exchange asked as to what we might do to prevent the exchange or to <br />restrict the use of such land so acquired by the State Fair <br />Board. After discussion, Cartwright moved that Hustrulid be <br />appointed to see the Secretary of the State Fair Board to <br />determine what plans they may have in this connection. Seconded <br />by Stenzinger and motion carried unanimously. <br />1 <br />Public Safety <br />Committee Report The Mayor presented the Public Safety Committee's summary report, <br />covering policing operations, ~~tay 19, 195t~ to September 30, 1954, <br />together with cost of operation and fines taken in. In connection <br />with recommendations of the committee, the following action was <br />taken: <br />As to discontinuing the stop sign on Larpenteur for use of the <br />Farmers Union Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association employees; Cartwright <br />traffic sign moved that the Mayor be requested to discuss the matter-with <br />the Association to see what agreement can be arrived at. Seconded <br />by Hustrulid and motion carried unanimously. <br />Juvenile cases As to referring juvenile cases to the Ramsey County Juvenile <br />Court for handling; Stewart moved approval of the Committee's <br />recommendation, seconded by Stenzinger, and carried unanimously. <br />To continue As to continuance of Village policing until June 1, 1955; the <br />Villa ge policing ,point was raised that this would bind the incoming council <br />that takes over in January 1955. Cartwright then :roved that <br />present policing operations be continued until further action <br />of the council. Seconded by Hustruli.d and motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Salaries of police As to increasing salaries of police officers from ~k1.50 to <br />increased $1.75 per hour for each officer; Cartwright moved approval of <br />said salary increases effective October 15, 195l~. Seconded <br />by Stenzinger and motion carried unanimously. <br />I <br /> <br />
