M. <br />~.- <br />Approved: Cler <br />Mayor <br />SEECIAL MEETING, MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1954 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:45 P.M., roll call recording the following council <br />members present: .George J. Shavor, Acting b;ayor; Andrew Hustrulid, Trustee; David P. <br />Cartwright, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. <br />Also inattendan ce were: Gilliam E. Olsen, +~reasurer; Frank N. Graham, Attorney, <br />Milner 1~'. Carley, Engineer; Planning Commission Chairman Lorris Williams and members, <br />C.K. Otis, J.A. Gallaher and Nick Christensen. Mr. N. L. Hermes and his attorney, <br />Mr. Charles E. Nieman, also were present. <br />Acting Mayor Shavor briefly reviewed the discussion held with Messrs. Hermaes and <br />his attorney, Mr. Nieman, at our regular meeting of October 13, as toa`re'arrangement <br />of the Crossroads Addition plat submitted by I~r. Hermes and the council's decision <br />to hold this special meeting for discussing the matter further with Engineer Carley <br />and the Planning Commission members present. <br />The Clerk was asked to read the Planning Commission's letter of August 21 , 1954, <br />recommending that the plat be re-drawn tm s~imx a 60-ft. roadway for Fry street. <br />Engineer Carley's letter of October 11, 1954, also was read, recommending that <br />Fry street be dedicated to a full 60-foot width, with recommendations as to necessary <br />construe tion if the street is to develop with houses being built on each side of it. <br />Mayor Stenzinger At this point (8:00 P.M.) Mayor Stenzinger arrived and took <br />charge of conducting the meeting. <br />Hermes-Nieman Mr. Hermes and his attor~aey, Mr. Nieman, were asked if they <br />wished to be heard. Mr. Nieman stated that since acquiring <br />a 12 foot strip, rdr. Hermes' property abuts on Fry street <br />which is 33 feet wide. Mr, Nieman said the developer is in <br />a position to do nothing~or sell his property off along Fry <br />street, stating it was a question of how much he could spend <br />and still have enough left to come out properly. Agreed from <br />the standpoint of the Village that it would be desirable ta~timately <br />to have a 60-foot street, but pointed out that qtr. Hermes as <br />one individual cannot afford to carry the freight that will benefit <br />property owners on both sides of the street, and that Mr. Hermes <br />does not control property to provide for a 60-foot roadway on <br />Larpenteur. Said there was a question whether we ought to have <br />a 50-foot street 100 to 150 feet off I,arpent,eur and then 60 feet, <br />or if the proper thing is to lay out the 50-foot street at the <br />
