~~3 <br />Resolution - SVHEREAS, the Minnesota State Highway Department has <br />prepared plans to build a highway across Island Lake near <br />Island Lake, Victoria street, in Ramsey County., which will cross property <br />Ramsey County surrounding Tsland Lake recen tly acquired by Ramsey County <br />to furnish recreational facilities for Ramsey County residents; <br />and <br />Yr'HEREAS, in the judgment of this council, the building <br />of the proposed road across this property would not be in the <br />best interests of the residents of this Village or of other <br />residents of Ramsey County since the recreational v~Lue of <br />the property would be greatly decreased and the safety of people <br />using the recreational area would be endangered if the highway <br />is built through the said property. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the State Highway <br />Department is hereby petitioned and requested to change the <br />location of the proposed road so that it will not cross Island <br />Lake; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Ramsey County, ?~innesota, is hereby requested <br />to commence an action on behalf of the taxpayers of Ramsey <br />County and on its own behalf to test the right of the State <br />Department of Highways to proc3eed with the construction of the <br />highway as proposed; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk be and he hereby <br />is directed to send copies of this Resolution to the Honorable <br />?R. J. Hoffman, Commissioner of Highways of the State of ]Minnesota, <br />and to the Honorable Eugene ~,.
