s~o <br />Recess At this point the meeting was recessed at 8;30 P.r.4. <br />Hearing, <br />Public It being 8:30 P.^~I. , the ~~ayor declared open the hearing on <br />. <br />Hartfeld re- the Hartfiel petition to rezone from Residence district "A'~ <br />zoning petition to Business district the property on the northwest corner <br /> of Larpenteur and Hamline as descri bed in said petition. <br />Attorney Attorney Graham reviewed the facts pertaining to the filing <br /> of the petition and reported he had checked same and found <br /> it had been signed by more than 50 per cent of the property <br /> owners wi thin 500 feet. Also that the notice of public <br /> hearing on the petition had been posted as certified to by <br /> the Clerk, and also that the notice of hearing had been <br /> published in The Rose Tribune, and that the petition had been <br /> referred to the Village planning commission for recommendation. <br /> About 20 persons were in attendance. <br />Planning The ~.4ayor read letter of November 22 from the Planning Commission, <br />Commission recommending that since a majority of residents within 500 feet <br />recommendation of the property are in favor of the petition, that the request <br />be granted. The ?t~'ayor then asked if any of the citizens attend- <br />ing the hearing wished to be heard. <br />Samuel J. 1697 Hamline North, stated that he and R.F. Glendenning, 135? <br />Cavallaro Larpdnteur, had a lease from g,-ir. Hartfiel on 10 feet adjoining <br /> each of their properties, that said lease was made in July, and <br /> th at it referred to how the property named in the petition was <br /> to be developed provided the rezoning took place within four <br /> months. <br />Michael Swyryd 1707 N. HamlinQ, stated. that when he signed the petition he <br /> objected to a filling station, root beer stand, etc. on the <br /> corner. He said if the understanding could not be enforced <br /> if the property was rezoned, that he wished to withdraw his <br /> signature from the petition. <br />VY.A. Hartfiel one of the petitioners, stated that 50 per cent of the affected <br /> property owners had signed the petition, and that if the petition <br /> was approved that the owners of the property would do their best <br /> to put some kind of business on the corner to please most of the <br /> residents. <br />Signers & Following a general discussion of the matter, Mr. Hartfiel and <br />owner to signers of the petition agreed to get together to try and <br />work out arrange a recordable agreement privately covering development <br />agreement of the property on a mutually agreeable basis. <br />Hearing ._St~i~.~.nger,.moved that the heating b~,continued at 8:30 P.r,4. <br />continued at the councils next regular meeting. Seconded by Cartwright <br />and motion carried unanimously. <br />Regular meeting Nick Christensen, Building Inspector, reported. that the <br />resumed at 9:15 P?,2 entrance to the new Cities Service station on the Snelling <br />avenue side had not been constructed in accordance with <br />the plans. After discussion, Stewart moved that our <br />attorney write the Cities Service Oil Company about this <br />matter, requesting that they conform to the plans. <br />Stenzinger seconded and motion carried unanimously. <br />J <br />
