~~3 <br />1 <br />1 <br />State Fire April 25-29, this year, with request that the Fire Chief and <br />School one paid firemen be authorized to attend with tuition of <br />9615.00 per man and expense of about 967.50 per man, allowed, <br />the two paid firemen to attend the school on their off days <br />under one tuition. Approval was voted on motion by Cartwright, <br />seconded by Shavor. <br />Merit system Letter of February 22 from Fire Chief Swanson, certifying that <br />increase - Fireman B.J. Slama passed requirements of Section #7,~Ordinance <br />B.J. Slama. #31, effective March 1, 1955. After discussion, Cartwright <br />moved that Fireman Slama having complied with said ordinance <br />requirements, be given a salary increase fron ~2z5 to $285 per <br />month, and that the Fire Chiefs salary be increased from <br />$320 to 9b325 per month, both salary increases to be effective <br />March 1, 1955. Seconded by Shavor and motion carried. <br />J.Wesley Nelson Letter of February 1!~ from J. ~Yesley Nelson, 1ltU2 Test Iowa Avenue, <br />proposal re proposing that Larpenteur avenue be developed into a !~-lane <br />Larpenteur divided highway, was read. After discussion, Stewart moved that <br />avenue the letter be referred to the County Engineer for comment. Seconded <br />by Cartwright and so ordered. <br />Re traffic Copy of the Villa ge Attorneys letter of .February 11 to the <br />Fair grounds, Attorney General, requesting an opinion as to whether Village <br />Farm School ordinance regulating traffic also applies on Fair grounds and <br />Farm school property. Following a discussion of this matter, <br />Shavor moved that the Village attorney be requested to furnish <br />an opinion as to the governmental unit which should collect fines <br />on traffic violation tickets issued by the County Sheriff on <br />County rods within the Village, also on Village streets. <br />Seconded by Stewart and motion carried. <br />Policing In connection with bill for Earl Smith, policing and mileage, <br />bills Feb. 16 and 17, and Henry J. Dachtera, policing and mileage, <br />Feb. 1@; Shavor moved that said bills be returned to Public Safety <br />Supervisor Don Arndt for re-submission on the basis of calendar <br />months as previously agreed. Fire Extinguisher Co., CO 2 re~rharge, 13.50 <br />Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., Ne 5200, Feb, 10, $12.20 <br />The Rose Tribune, publish Ordinance No. 31, 4k38,60 <br />~, <br />L_ J <br />Trailers - Cartwright reported talking with the manager of the Standard <br />Standard Gasoline Service station about his proposal for handling trailers. <br />Service He said the manager stated they planned to have three or four <br />Station small trailers at the station to try out as a service to the <br />community, but that they would get rid of them if it became <br />necessary to take out a license to handle the trailers. On motion <br />by Shavor, seconded by~Stewart, it was voted to approve Trustee <br />Cartwright~s reco~nendation that the handling of trailers be <br />watched and if the practice spreads, that the Villa ge consider <br />licensing same. <br />
