554 <br />Pedestrian Shavor reported he had talked with Mr. Winfrey about the business- <br />cross-walk men keeping the pedestrian cross~ralk signs free of snow-. Mr. <br />Winfrey informed him that the businessmen would try to keep the <br />snow plowed out and that they fully appreciate the need for doing <br />so. <br />Fir® hydrant Cartwright reported that he met with~Commissioner Gibbons and <br />installation Leonard Thompson, General Manager, Water Department, City of <br />St Paul, about a week ago and that they discussed our request' <br />for laying main to the fire station and Village hall. They felt, <br />Cartwright said, that the main should run down Larpenteur avenue. <br />Cartwright asked that they furnish us with estimated cost, and <br />explained that no provision was wade in the Village budget for an <br />expenditure of this size. Later in discussing the matter with <br />Commissioner Marzitelli, the latter suggested to Cartwright that <br />if the Villa ge is interested, we should adopt an ordinance so that <br />the main may be provided next year. After discussion, it was <br />agreed the Clerk refer the following questions to our attorney: <br />(1) that are the ordinance requirements that Marzitelli referred <br />to. (2) The expenditure involving X3000 or ~lt000; on what basis <br />could we handle when our Village code requires securing bids on <br />any expanditure over $5U0. (3) Who would own the water main when <br />installed (!t) How would future service from the main be handled. <br />(5) What authority do we have to lay a water main. <br />Sanitary After discussion; of the sanitary sewer problem,. Stewart moved <br />seser that Shavor be appointed to discuss the matter with Vila ge <br />Engineer Carley and to report back at the next meeting. Seconded <br />by Cartwright and motion carried unanimously. <br />Volunteer After discussion, Shavor moved that Cartwright be requested to <br />Firemen's obtain the report and recommendations of the Volunteer Firemen, <br />Report and pertaining to the Fire Cheif and the operation of the department, <br />recommendations together with any modifications. Seconded by Stewart and motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />State Farm The Clerk was asked to contact Mr. Leonard.
