~8~ <br />Fireman Schultz Letter of June 21 from Fireman Stanley P. Schultz expressing <br />re salary appreciation for his salary increase was read and ordered <br />filed. <br />Bills: On motion by Hustrulid, seconded by Cartwright, the following <br />bills-were ordered paid: <br />St Paul Dispatch, 1/10 weed notice cost, X8.37 <br />General Elec. Supply Co., 12 - 60 A. lamps, 6-lb, X1.60 <br />Minn, Fire Extinguisher Co., Inc., two C02 recharges, $7.00 <br />N.L. Splett, application ~ license forms, $5.00 <br />NK Bell Telephone Co., ^Jfi '6-5200, including Bell ~ Light <br />sta. install. & monthly charges, X107.03 <br />McClain ~ Hedman, supplies for Clerk, $1.30 <br />Walter S. Booth R: Son, license forms, X1.78 <br />Street bill for ~1u,272.75 for work performed by the County on our streets <br />to be paid in during the month of May, was considered separately. At request <br />installments of the council, our Village Engineer had checked ±re wrork, the <br />Clerk said, and reported that there was no question about the <br />amount of bituminous material used. Said he found that the <br />road beds had not been prepared for the bituminous surfacing <br />and that this was apparent in the breaking up of the streets <br />in some areas. Engineer Carley, he said, advised adoption <br />of a system of checking and programming the streets each year <br />before going ahead with needed repairs. The Clerk also <br />reported that the County was agreeable to accepting payment <br />of the bill in installments as our tax money became: available <br />for the purpose, Cartwright then moved that the initial payment <br />on the relay street bill be X5,000.00. Seconded by Stewart and <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Street Shavor moved that the Clerk be instructed to write the Street <br />expenditures Commissioner that the Village not be obligated for any further <br />limited street and bridge expenditures, excepting completion of the <br />oiling program, without specific authorization of the Council. <br />Seconded by Cartwri~?ht and motion carried unanimously. <br />Hermes Messrs. A.F. Johannsen, 1729 N. Snelling, and R.A. Shelgren, <br />rezoning 1735 N. Snelling, appeared before the council in connection with <br />protested the rezoning of the Hermes property, Lot 7, The Crossroads, from <br />Residence A to Business District. Said they were on vacation <br />at the time of the public hearing on this matter, and did not <br />have opportunity to bring out the fact that there was a previous <br />agreement between Mr. Hermes and the property owners covering <br />Lot 7 of The Crossroads, which the Council should consider. <br />Attorney Graham reported that Mr. Johansen had turned over to <br />him a r estricted property certificate signed by Hermes and people <br />who were the owners of the Crossroads section that Lot 7 was to <br />be a residential lot. Attorney Graham then read the agreement. <br />After discussion, Mr. N.L. Hermes, who was present, agreed that <br />he would not sell the property or put it to any business use <br />before the next council meeting set for July 13 ,' 1955, and in <br />the mean time that he would try to work out something with the <br />property owners. <br />
