On motion by Cartwright, seconded by Stewart, it xas voted unanimously <br />matters to instruct the Clerk. to send two application forma to Ray Merkle, <br />(cont'd) asking him ~n connection xith completing the application forms to <br />1®t us know xhen he rill be available for service as a paid fireman, <br />also informing him that the present ordinance provides for a starting <br />xage of X275.00 per month. <br />Appointment Cartwright moved that xe record in the minutes that Kenneth Barthel <br />declined by declined the position of paid fireman as provided for in the <br />Kenneth minutes of November 9, 1955. Seconded by Stewart aryl so ordered. <br />Barthel <br />Acting 3T~~ The Clerk then read a letter, dated November 23, 1955, from Acting <br />Fire Chief's Volunteer Fire Chief Grumke, ss folloxs: <br />letter 11-23 <br />"Enclosed find work schedule for the two paid firemen. You xill note <br />it is drawn up to December 31, but can be changed at any time xhen a <br />third man xould start. <br />"Also find enclosed the five inventory sheets. The volunteers checked <br /> these sheets over, and you xill note there are several items crossed <br /> off. These items should not have been listed as they xere the <br /> sleeper's personal property. <br /> "Also, the item of shirt shields hasn't been checked. Many of the <br /> badges are missing, and at the first opportunity xe xill check them. y" <br /> I think xe will have to replace a number of them." <br /> <br /> "Am I correct that the two paid men new working the present schedule <br /> rill be compensated accordingly?" <br />Inventory After discussion, Shavor moved that the inventory submitted xith <br />approved. Acting Volunteer Fire Chief Grumke's letter of November 23, 1955, be <br /> accepted, sub3ect to his personal certification. Seconded by <br /> Cartwright and motion carried unanimously. <br />Payt. to Geo. Aster discussion, Hustrulid moved that payment to George E. Swanson <br />Swanson of df termination pay and accrued vacation pay, as recorded in the <br />termination pay minutes of November 9, 1955, be authorized as of November 23, 1955. <br />& accrued Seconded by Stenzinger and motion carried unanimously. <br />vacation pay. <br />Schedule for Hustrulid then moved that the proposed work schedule for the two paid <br />txo paid men firemen be approved as an emergency schedule as presented by Acting <br /> Volunteer Chief Grumke, said schedule to be in effect until the third <br /> paid fireman is employed. Seconded by Cartwright and carried <br /> unanimously. <br />Emergency Cartwright moved that as an emergency measure to cover the period until <br />compensation- the third paid fireman can be hired, that ~heh of the present two paid <br />two paid fire- firemen be paid additional compensation to cover the extra hours at <br />men the rate of ;125.00 per month, commencing as of November 15, 1955. <br /> Seconded by Stewart and motion carried unanimously. <br />Merit system The C]e rk reported that Fireman Stanley P. Schultz had passed the <br />increase -Fireman advanced First Aid course (Red Cross) as of November 13, 1955, <br />S.P.$chultz as per Sec. 7, Ordinance No. 31. Hustrulid moved that in accordance <br /> xith the ordinance that Fireman Stanley P. Schultz be given a <br /> salary increase from X6280.00 to X285.00 per month, effective beginning <br /> the last half of November, 1955. Seconded by Shavor and so ordered. <br /> <br />
