<br />Lauderdale In connection with making fire inspections in the Village of
<br />inspections .Lauderdale; Acting Volunteer Fire Chief Grumke recommended i~
<br />inspecting commercial buildings in Lauderdale twice a year
<br />as a safety measure for our firemen who are sub3ect to call
<br />under the terms of our standby contract with Lauderdale.
<br />After discussion with Chief Grumke, it was voted unanimously
<br />that Acting Volunteer Fire Chief Grumke be authorized to
<br />arrange for said inspections as he sees fit, on motion by
<br />Cartwright, seconded by Utecht.
<br />Large oxygen Chief Grumke reported that our volunteer firemen recently
<br />tanks furnished bought two large oxygen tanks from their firemen's dance
<br />by Vol.firemen funds, these to be filled by the Village at a saving as
<br />compared with the previous practice of purchasing the
<br />oxygen in small quantities. The two large oxygen tan ks
<br />will serve for refilling the small resuscitator tanks.
<br />The Clerk was asked to write the Volunteers regarding the
<br />matter and to include it in Village news items.
<br />Topographic The Clerk reported. that a new topographic map of the Twin
<br />map Cities and vicinity, showing railroad lines, new highways,
<br />housing developments, etc., could be purchased from the
<br />U,S, Geological Survey, Washington, D,C., for 75¢ according
<br />to news releases. Utecht mnithd that the Clerk be authorized
<br />to purchase the map. Seconded by Cartwright and so ordered.
<br />Building
<br />permits Report from Building Inspector Nick Christensen was read,
<br />showing a total of 55 building permits issued in 1955 with
<br />a total value of X750,325.00.
<br />Ralph Van Ralph Van Hoven, spokesman for a committee appearing before
<br />Hoven the council, said he wished to convey greetings from the
<br />citizens and to say they feel that the ~iiaage government
<br />is in good hands. Mr. Van Hoven also said there are many
<br />residents who are anxious and willing to serve on citizens'
<br />committees or as desired.
