659 <br />State Fire School Letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities relating. - <br />to the Minnesota State Fire School, with sessions scheduled ~-z3*L7 <br />for the. University's St Paul Caaapus and the State Fair Grounds, <br />was read. Shavor moved that the letter be referred to <br />Acting Fire Chief Earl Grumke. Seconded by Cartxrigh t and <br />so ordered. <br />Horazdovsky Letter from the Falcon Heights Planning Commission relative <br />variance to the public hearing held on the request of Earl and Harold <br />request Horazdovsky fora variance in the sideyard provisions of <br />the Village zoning ordinance to permit the building of an <br />addition to their gasoline filling station, xas read. After <br />discussion of the matter with Mr. Earl Horazdovsky, the council <br />voted unanimously to adopt the following resolution xhich was <br />moved by Cartwright and seconded by Stewart: <br />Approved.- RESOLVED, upon recommendation of the Falcon Heights Planning <br /> Commission, dated February 29, 1956, the Village Council finds <br /> that granting the variation request of Earl and Harold Horazdovsky, <br /> relating to sideyard provisions of Section 10 of Ordinance No. 8, <br /> rill not materially affect adversely health, safety or general <br /> xelfare or public or private property, and hereby authorizes <br /> said applicants to build an addition to the north side of their <br /> gasoline filling station as proposed and that the building <br /> inspector is authorized to issue a building permit to cover <br /> the addition. <br />Mayor Kitts Mayor Harry W. Kitts, of Roseville, appeared before the <br />of Roseville council and spoke on matters of interest to both villages, <br /> xith respect to possible sanitary sewer hookup with Roseville <br /> in certain areas, a proposed metropolitan police force, <br /> availability of Roseville's municipal court to Falcon Heights, <br /> and proposed cooperation between the Villages on fire protection <br /> arrangements. It was agreed that Fire Chiefs Lynch and Grumke <br /> should continue their discussion of the matter with a view to <br /> submitting a proposal. In the discussion that followed, <br /> Mayor Kitts reported that Roseville did not have a dog pound <br /> but xas trying to work out arrangements with the Humane Society. <br /> Garbage collection and providing for dump facilities were also <br /> discussed. <br />Pedestriap Cross- The council discussed xith William Chenoweth, Ramsey County <br />xalk traffic engineer, possible improvements to our pedestrian <br /> crosswalk. Mr. Chenoxeth reported on traffic control studies <br /> which were recently made at the intersection of Larpenteur and <br /> Snelling avenues. After discussion, Utecht moved that. since <br /> it appeared from the report that the pedestrian cross-walk, <br /> which is now designated with lines and signs, requires more <br /> complete controsl so as to promote the movement of Sehicles <br /> during the peak time for travel because of Snelling avenue <br /> traff is during evening and morning hours, that the Clerk <br /> xrite the Board of County Commissioners about utilizing signal <br /> facilities not now in use at St Marys and Larpenteur at the <br /> pedestrian cross-walk location. Seconded by Cartwright and <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
