<br />REGULAR MEETING, WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 1956
<br />Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M., the following council members being present:
<br />William R. Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee;
<br />Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Absent: David P. Cartwright, Trustee. Vdilliam E. Olsen,
<br />Treasurer, and Frank N. Graham, Attorney, were present.
<br />Minutes of regular meeting, April 25, 1956, were heard and corrected on page 672,
<br />by addition of the words, "On or before July 1, 1956," in connection with when
<br />Mr. Stepnitz was asked to bring in another plan for development of Associated Investors'
<br />land along Arona. Minutes of regular meeting-April 25, 1956, were then approved
<br />as corrected. Minutes of the April 25, 1956 Public Hearing were heard and approved
<br />as read.
<br />Water Lorris l~illiams, 16511 Maple Knoll Drive, and Leo Ohman, 1635 Garden
<br />shortage Avenue appeared before the council, Mr. Williams' stating that he
<br />wished to call the council's attention to the water shortage in the
<br />area between Larnenteur and Ruggles and Pascal to Fry streets. The
<br />situation in the area, he said, ranged from low water pressure to-
<br />no water at all. Mr. Williams furnished a memo on the water situation
<br />in the affected area.
<br />Write Water After a full discussion, Utecht moved that the Clerk write the
<br />Department Water Department, City of St Paul, attention of Mr. Leonard N.
<br />Thompson, advising that we are having difficulty with the water
<br />pressure, especially in the Maple Knoll area, and teq~est•.ng that
<br />a meeting be-set up for working out a possible solution.-`.; Seconded
<br />by Stewart and motion carried unanimously.
<br />F3.ameburger t~ir. Ray Price, of the Flameburger, said that the smoke situation
<br />smoke problem is something they are trying .to take care of at their establishments
<br />here and in Minneapolis. He reported they .are seeking advice from
<br />• an eastern firm and will keep the council informed as to developments.
<br />Ralph Keller, Mr. Keller indicated he wished to have his property rezoned to
<br />1830 W. Larpenteur Business district for a depth of 1300 feet from the center line
<br />of Larpenteur and asked how he .could. expedite his request for
<br />such rezoning. Mr. Keller was informed that a petition for
<br />the proposed rezoning could be filed with the council.
<br />Private policing- William Jeffrey, 1973 Tatum, of the Suburban Police Patrol, a
<br />Wm. Jeffrey, private policing system, informed the council that his Company
<br />1973 Tatum was interested in extending their services in directing traffic
<br />-and assisting with parking of cars for business property owners
<br />in Fal con Heights. After discussion, Shavor moved that Mr.
<br />Jeffrey discuss his proposal with Public Safety Supervisor Don
<br />Arndt to see haw it fits in with our policing operations.
<br />Regn. #80 On motion by Shavor, seconded by Utecht, it was voted to approve
<br />Clerk's office. the said requisition covering supplies needed by the Clerk.
<br />Regn. #81 Requisition No. 81, covering supplies needed by the Fire Department,
<br />Fire Dept. was considered. Utecht moved approval, seconded by Nilsen and
<br />so ordered.
<br />Ramsey County Copy of letter dated May 7, 1956 to Mayor Utecht from the Ramsey
<br />Legislative County Legislative Research Committee, was read relative to a
<br />Research Com- proposed meeting of the Committee with Mayors ared Town Chairmen,
<br />mittee in Ramsey County, the evening of May 21~, 1956, for hearing suggestions
<br />and recommendations on matters relating to Justices of the Peace,
